Clarke got up feeling a familiar heaviness in her heart, it was weighing her down and all she wanted was a drink just to ease the nerves wrecking her apart.

The whole night she spent tossing and turning, unable to fully sleep. Even when sleep had finally come, nightmares plagued her mind.

Today felt to good to be true. She was sober, the kids and her mom were visiting, something bad had to happen, she learnt that a long time ago, if it feels too good to be true it probably was.

She looked at the watch on the wall and it was a little past eight and all the families would be coming at ten. She didn't want to go out and meet them.

Being here was so much better than being out there. She liked it here now, she had friends and a new family and everything was just okay.

She looked over at Charlotte and decided to wake her up when she cane back. Putting on her slippers she exited the room and walked down the hall. People were already up and moving, some dressed in their best attires, today meant something.

Today was the blue medal a student got after winning the race, the sixty day chip in AA, the pat on the back from dad, today was meaningful, today was the day.

Clarke knocked on the brown door, biting on her lower lip, her foot tapped on the linoleum floor. Niylah opened the door and smiled while opening the door to a nervous looking Clarke.

"Hey, you alright?"

"What if they don't show up? or maybe they do and they don't like me. I mean Aden and Madi have never seen me sober and what if they hate sober me or maybe I don't like them anymore and I just hate them?"

Clarke paced up and down the small office, she was now walking barefoot, having taken off her slippers.

"What if the whole building burns down, what if the world ends tomorrow or what if I slip and fall on my way out of here and I die, what if?" Niylah said calmly looking back at Clarke.

"What?" Clarke stopped pacing and turned to look at Niylah.

"There are so many what ifs Clarke and if I gave them power then I'd never get out of bed. What happens, happens and we can't control that so let's focus on what we can control."

"Just go with the flow. Whatever happens happens. Now get out of here before I kick you out. Get yourself ready and enjoy today because it's for you."

"But-"

"Don't make me kick your behind, go, have fun with your family."

Clarke walked to the door, she turned back to look at Niylah and smiled, dipping herhead forward she left to go get herself ready.

Forty minutes later she was standing near the entrance waiting as she tapped her foot on the floor, she kept looking at the clock behind her.

When she turned around she first saw Madi running untamed towards her, her hair flowing in the wind. She moved forward and caught her in her arms and she spinned around with her in her arms.

She knelt down, letting go of her, she cupped the little girl's face in her trembling hands.

"I've missed your little face so much." she said going for another hug. She stood on her feet, still holding on to Madi's hand she shared a quick hug with her mother and turned to look at Aden who was busy on his phone.

"Hey little guy?" She ruffled his hair playing fully, while smiling. Aden looked up, his face straight as she looked at Clarke and back down at his phone.

"Motherfu*ng Griff!!!" Raven Screamed, charging towards Clarke, she threw herself in her arms almost knocking her down, her sister looked like a real person again and it made her heart swell.
