The worst news of our lives come in our happiest moments, in moments when life seems bright and fruitful. It's almost like a balance that needs to be maintained, happiness and sadness need to balance each other out.

Clarke had left her car while Niylah drove her home, she couldn't reach either her mom or Lexa anymore. She felt like she couldn't breathe, the air around them seemed to be thicker than usual and Time seemed to stretch out into centuries.

She hoped with all her heart it wasn't the kids, it couldn't be the kids. She had just got them and if she'd lose them then the world would fall apart, her world would collspse and she would crumble. She made a promise, a promise that'd she'd take care of them, and keep them safe.

"Clarke?" Niylah called out, "You have to keep breathing okay," She glanced at her and all Clarke could manage was a slow nod.

As the car rolled down the streets, Clarke could see a police car infront of her house. Blue and red lights flashing brightly.

Lexa stood there talking to the police officer, Clarke couldn't see her mom or the kids anywhere. Maybe it wasn't so bad, maybe it was just a break in and that she could handle. She could replace the items stolen but not a life, a life snufffed out from the world is gone forever.

She flew out of the car the moment Niylah hit the breaks, "Lexa!" She screamed as she felt that her feet were moving slower than they should be.

Lexa?" both Lexa and the officer turned to face her. Clarke called out once more, but this time at a lower volume. As Clarke approached, the police officer removed his headgear and pressed it to his chest.

Lexa took a step  forward in response. "Something terrible has happened Clarke. And I am terribly sorry, but Aden- Aden has passed away," Her voice strained as tears threatened to spill, but she knew she had to hold it together for Clarke's sake.

"Do you mean like he bolted?" She asked, hoping the answer would be yes.

"Please tell me he simply ran away and is fine because Aden-" her voice broke. She came to a halt as if her mind was making connections, and she turned to Lexa, hoping to find the answer she was looking for, but it wasn't there.

"I'm sorry Clarke but Aden has died, Aden is dead Clarke." lexa said firmly.

"Madi?" She asked softly, if Lexa wasn't so close to her, she never would have heard her.

"With Abby, they are waiting for you." Lexa relied.

"I'm so so-"

"Stop, he's dead. Aden is dead and he's never going to come back, he's never going to see Madi or do rap battles with Marcus or do practice lessons with you, he is gone and OH God!"  Clarke dropped to her knees, heaving as she stared at the ground. It was as if her mind was finally catching up to her words, finally processing them.

A scream came, a scream that sounded almost like a prayer, a scream that sounded like the last stretch at a life lived for far too long, though 30 years of age Clarke felt decades older and the pain she carried with her made her feel older than most.

The screaming continued. Followed by moments of silence and more screams. Those around her stood there frozen, their hearts aching for the woman on the floor, window curtains were parted just enough for eyes to peak, doors open to see, to witness the blood curling scream that could never be ignored.

Niylah dropped next to Clarke, "Clarke?" She tried to get her to come back, to stop screaming. She kept calling her name but nothing was working, Clarke wouldn't stop, finally Niylah looked up at Lexa and moved away.

Lexa followed suite and kneeled in front of Clarke. She said nothing but cup Clarke's face with her trembling hands, forcing Clarke to look into her eyes.

Clarke closed her eyes shut, "No, here." Lexa said softly, "Clarke?" She said, her voice calm and collected, "Here." She repeated.

Clarke opened her eyes and looked at Lexa. Green is perhaps the most powerful color since it welcomes in the new season after the passing of winter days, and Lexa's eyes were born with such a green colour that reminded Clarke of sunshine and floral blooms. Eyes that reminded her so much of Aden's and it hit her again, she was never going to see him again, not in this lifetime.

"He i-i-is d-dead," Clarke felt sick and then went down, she crumpled like a puppet suddenly released of their strings.

Life would never be the same again, Everyone knew that, the word had gotten around that Aden was gone. Raven, Octavia and Lexa were all at Abby's house with Clarke sleeping in the next room.

Octavia was trying to keep Madi busy, nobody had told her. How could they? How could they tell her that the only life line she had, the last of her blood was gone, erased from the world.

Abby was busy cooking even though she knew nobody had the stomach for it and Lexa sat by the sofa with Niylah and Raven.

"She's going to need you," Niylah said softly, looking at Lexa, "She told me about the break but she's going to need you and you have to be there for her."

Lexa soaked in the words, she knew they were true but she didn't want that, she wanted to find out, to get to the bottom of it. Who had killed him because it sure as hell wasn't an accident.

She wanted revenge, she wanted blood and she would get it, Aden's death had to be avenged.

"Blood must have blood." Lexa seethed her voice low and cold. She knew how to do that, she knew about revenge but feelings and emotions were hard for her.

"Titus already has ears on the ground." Lexa said

"Where is Madi?" Clarke stood by the doorway, "Does she know?" She asked.

"No," Raven replied, "No one has told her. Mom thought we should wait for you." She replies. Big round tears rush down Clarke's face.

"It wasn't supposed to end this way." She whispered, covering her face with both her hands while letting out a sigh as more tears came.

She then turned around and went into the kitchen to find her mom standing there, staring out into space. "Clarke," Abby said, and Madi turned and looked at Clarke, she jumped from her seat and went to Clarke's side.

Even though no one had said anything, Madi knew something was wrong.

"Clarke?" Madi tugged at Clarke's pants and Clarke looked at her mother as her eyes watered and lowered herself down to Madi's level.

"Hey there princess," Clarke did her best to be strong, to keep a straight face.

"What's wrong?" Madi asked.

Clarke sat down on the floor, and took Madi onto her lap. "I am so sorry Madi, but there was an accident, and Aden. He um- aden is- he has died." Clarke said.

Madi sat there, millions of questions sprung to her mind. She knew death meant you were never going to see the person again, but she couldn't fully understand it, she didn't really know what came with it or what it meant.

"Aden said mom died and that we would never see her again-" Madi looked at Clarke with her big round eyes. "Where do dead people go?"

"When someone dies, his or her body stops living. And their spirit, it goes to a happy place, a place where good things only happen, a place where they see us and they protect us, like my dad died too and he went there but he is still out there looking out for me. Aden will always with us, even if we can't see him."

"But- but he's my brother and I want to see him." Madi stood up and looked at Clarke, "I want to see him please Clarke," Madi knew please was important, when you say please things get done and she hoped if she said please Aden would come back. That he'd walk through the door.

"You can't sweetheart, we ca- can't."

It is in those moments, when death wins, and People weep and so does the world for every life matters, every light that goes out matters.
