Clarke woke up and the first thing she did was turn to her left, she had to make sure what she felt last night, all the things she experienced were indeed real and she hadn't dreamt it up.
Her eyes watered at the scene in front of her, she looked at Lexa long and hard, but all she saw was a woman, numbed by years of tragedy and pain, forced to do horrible things in order to survive, not the monster Lexa saw herself as, if a monster she'd most definitely be the most adorable.
"I can feel you staring," Lexa opened her eyes, and looked up at Clarke. She lifted her head up and perked Clarke's lips pulling her to lay down on her, "Goodmorning beautiful."
"A very good morning indeed, How are you doing my fine lady." Clarke played along, for a minute or two they could just play pretend their lives were normal, they could lay in bed and not have to worry about anything for a while.
"Well, let's see," Lexa looked up, scrunching up her face as if thinking, which Clarke found downright adorable, and couldn't resist pressing another kiss to Lexa's lips. It went on for a few minutes until they pulled back to breathe.
"After that, and last night. I'd say I'm doing amazing." Lexa pulled Clarke close and they just held on to each other until they fell asleep again.
Waking up, time had completely flew by. It was noon, Lexa looked around and Clarke had gone back to sleeping on her side, but her arm was loosely draped around her torso.
She moved it away lightly, careful not to wake the blonde up. Clarke deserved more sleep, the nightmares Lexa heard last night sounded horrible and that ate at her. She blamed herself for it all, if she hadn't left Clarke maybe they'd both be okay, or sane to the very best.
She pressed a kiss to Clarke's foregead and left the bedroom, she found her phone vibrating on the kitchen table, picking it up, she read the name on the screen.
"What's up old man?" she asked casually, Titus was her mentor, trained her harder than she'd ever trained her whole life in the past five years, but at the same time he felt more of a father to her, he and Maya were the only family she knew and loved.
"Where are you?" Titus asked, his voice stern and straight forward.
"I'm at Clarke's, I know you don't like her but-"
"Don't like her is an understatement of the century and you know it. That girl ruined your life before and now she will be the death of you," Lexa sighed and plopped down on the cold chair, she didn't want to hear it, Clarke was nothing but good for her.
"She didn't ruin my life Titus. Clarke, she makes me strong, not weak. Love is not weakness, surely you know that by now," Titus always preached that love was weakness, but Lexa knew better. Titus was a big softy, one whom she'd fallen completely in love with, in a really long time she felt like she had a family of her own, they kept her sane after losing Clarke.
"I beg of you to remember my teachings, that girl is not good for you."
Titus was a strong believer in love is weakness, but he himself had a hard time with those words. He was surrounded by his weaknesses, Maya had been a mistake and before he knew it he had fallen for the little creature, and then came Lexa, who'd just helped make him softer.
He just wanted to protect both his girls, no matter the cost. He took a vow to God to never let anyone harm them, not even Clarke herself.
Lexa smiled as she felt Clarke's arms wrap around her from behind, Clarke rested her head on Lexa's shoulder. "You smell nice," Clarke rested her head on Lexa's back and just breathed her in.
Lexa was in love again, she wasn't sure if she ever stopped. What they had was gone but maybe that was the point, to start over and be together again but this time do things differently, this time both of them stay, accepting each others imperfections and leaning to love the parts of themselves that they hate.
