The door bell chimed once again as another happy customer left.  (Name) heaved a sigh of relief.  That last customer had been a piece of work.  They wanted every extra detail available but for half the price.  The flowers were supposed to be the stars not the accessories.

It was not hard to deal with though.  (Name) had tons of practice after years of working at the small florist shop.  Several people a day would come in and make life a thousand times more difficult than it needed to be for the poor employee.

Of course none of the customers had a thing on (Name)'s boss.  The woman made working for her a living hell.

If it wasn't one thing it was always another that was the problem.

"(Name) we don't need more roses, they don't even sell anyway!" or "(Name) you loused that one!  You should be pushing the ornate arrangements, how am I supposed to make money with an moron like you? ... I don't care what the customer wants!  You convince them they want the most expensive option."

Everything was always (Name)'s fault.  It might as well be written into the job description at this point.

To anybody who knows a single thing about flower-shops, business, or customer service it is needless to say, (Name)'s boss had no idea what she was doing.  Without (Name)'s intervention her business would have gone under years ago.  She was lucky to have any regulars at the shop at all.

If there was any alternatives (Name) would have bailed a long time ago, but life wasn't so kind.  Needing the job to keep food on the table (Name) couldn't just drop the job without another one to replace it, and jobs just weren't abundant at the moment.

Finally free from the shop's toughest customer yet, (Name) sat behind the clerk's desk.  Fiddling with some display flowers (Name) hardly heard the bell above the door chime.

Another customer had arrived.  He was new, and he didn't seem like he was from around the area.  He was dressed too sharp to be from such a laid-back community.

The man looked around the shop before making a beeline for the desk.  It only took a few strides for him to cross the shop to where (Name) was.

Once he got there he didn't wait to explain that he needed a small flower arrangement.  It was for a business meeting.  Something about the room being to drab without any decorations.

He seemed in a hurry, so (Name) tried to go as fast as possible.  Trying to keep a friendly atmosphere (Name) began making small talk.

Over the course of creating the arrangement (Name) was able to find out a lot about the man.  For one, his name is Samuel Seo and he's the director of a large company.  He mentioned which one but it didn't ring any bells to (Name).  It surprised him that someone wouldn't know about One MCN and he tried explaining what it was.  (Name) listened intently but nothing really stuck.

(Name) also learned that Samuel had a lot of tattoos.  They weren't visible right away.  The only reason (Name) even saw them at all was because Samuel somehow got stuck by some thorns.  The thorns were stuck in his suit jacket so he had to take it off to remove them.  While he did his sleeves hiked up to reveal his tattoos.

Being around Samuel was interesting.  In only a few minutes (Name) felt more relaxed with him than with most other people.  Samuel seemed more relaxed and smiley than when he first came in as well.  If only it could have lasted.

Almost at the end of their transaction, (Name)'s boss returned from their half-an-hour-long smoke break, and she was nasty.

Undeterred by the very large age difference, (Name)'s boss began flirting with Samuel.  Her definition of flirting wasn't pretty.  It revolved around putting others down to make herself look better.  She berated (Name) all the while pretending like she'd be the kindest girlfriend Samuel could ever want.

It was ugly.  She was ugly, and Samuel clearly noticed.  He moved her hands from off of him with a disgusted face and stepped aside.  He couldn't exactly leave yet as his arrangement wasn't ready.

Before (Name)'s boss could push Samuel too far (Name) managed to finish the arrangement.  Quickly shouting that it was done and practically shoving it into Samuel's hands, (Name) felt the boss's focus switch to them.  The face she made was one that promised pure hellfire.

(Name)'s boss sat by quietly as Samuel made his way out.

Fast as lighting, once Samuel was gone, (Name)'s boss snapped.  Without a customer in sight she started belittling (Name) worse than ever before.  Saying thing like how they cost her a possible husband and how they did everything wrong. It became too much to handle.

(Name) pimp slapped her across the face.  The silence was deafening afterwards.  (Name) was sure a "you're fired" was coming their way, but they grabbed their stuff and left before that could happen.  Outside the shop (Name) felt happy to stand up to her but also so stupid for having lost their temper and most likely thier job too.

The next day (Name) woke up to several voice messages.  It was their boss. In the first one she was furious.  The shock had worn off and she was swearing like crazy.  In the next few she was calmer, and by the last message she was a sobbing reck.  She was yelling for (Name) to come back to work.

Returning to work felt foreign.  The night before (Name) accepted they would never come back, but there they were.  Standing behind the desk waiting for customers with no boss in sight.

It was uncomfortably quiet until the bell rang. (Name) was happy to get away from their own thoughts.  They were even happier to see who it was that came in.

Samuel had come back.  (Name) was sure he'd never come back around after the other day, but he proved that wrong.  They were a bit nervous though.

Making his way towards (Name), Samuel was much calmer than the last time he was there.  When he got to the desk he just looked at (Name) silently.  It was like he was thinking something over in his head, but when he finally spoke he had their full attention.

"(Name) you shouldn't be letting that woman talk to you ike that," he said.  It made them blush thinking about how things ended last night.  Perhaps she no longer would speak to them like that.  "If you're interested I can make you a deal."

Samuel's proposal piqued their interest.  "A deal?"

He nodded "Yes, a deal.  My boss, he's opening up a shop.  It's going to be a florist shop like this one.  If you want you could be in charge of it, aside from him of course.  The only drawback is that the shop's a front.  You can still sell flowers and we won't drag you into anything but you should know that before you decide."

(Name) stood their in shock.  A guy they met yesterday was offering them a way out of here but in return they'd be close to some gangster stuff.  It felt strange.  Like something out of a movie, but (Name) really didn't want to stay.

"Samuel, I believe you, so I agree to run the shop... I get paid right?"

He smiled "Yes, half the sales are yours to keep.  You'll also be the only real employee there.  Don't be afraid to run people off either, I'll always come if you need me.  Now we should go" he extends his hand to them "I've got to show you around your new shop."
