Isabella pulled up to Nava's house and removed her motorcycle helmet and riding gloves. She kicked her leg over her bike and started unzipping her jacket. Dustin walked outside.
"Did Nava tell you what she wanted to talk about?" she asked as he walked towards her. Dustin nodded. "Yeah, she wants to talk about the nightmares she's been having." he said. Isabella bent down undoing her chaps. "Nightmares? Wouldn't you have known if she was having nightmares? You know since you sleep next to her and if she started freaking out it would wake you up?"
Dustin nodded. "I knew she was having bad dreams but she told me it was mostly memories. Running away from home, turning into a wolf for the first time, things like that." Isabella nodded her brow furrowing. She turned towards the house. "Well let's go find out what these nightmares are about and why she lied about them." Dustin stopped. "How are you handling this so well? When Nava told me she lied about the nightmares I about blew up!" he said. Isabella stopped and turned around. "I know. You have the right to be mad but if she lied to you about the nightmares and didn't even mention them to me then somethings wrong and we need to help her," she said, turning back towards the house.
Dustin nodded and started walking. Isabela was right, but he was still hurt. Nava had lied to him. Didn't she trust him? As if reading his thoughts Isabella turned around and glared at him. "I know it hurts but she's trusting you by telling you now. She could continue to hide it from you till you found out yourself so quit moping and get inside." she said letting him pass. "How did you know what I was thinking?" he asked. Isabella laughed. "I didn't but I know you well enough to make a lucky guess." Dustin smiled and walked inside.
Isabella immediately went into the living room and found Nava sitting in her hammock. "Howdy," said Nava, Isabella sat down. "Nightmares hmm? Interesting, let's see if we can figure this out," she said leaning back in her chair. Dustin sat on the couch and leaned forward. "Hold on Isabella. First I want to know why Nava didn't tell us before about the nightmares."
Nava nodded. "Fair enough. I didn't tell you because I wasn't sure how you would react. You and Isabella can get pretty protective over small things. The nightmares are getting worse and I didn't want you to freak out." she said. Isabella scoffed. "I do not get overprotective!" Nava hid a smile. "You made me wear a bulletproof vest for a week because a potentially dangerous client was in town," she said.
Dustin leaned back. "Okay we can be a little overprotective sometimes but you still should have told me sooner," he said Nava got out of her hammock and sat by him. "I'm sorry and I will tell you in the future right away," she said. Dustin nodded.
"Okay, you two love birds. Quit making googly eyes at each other so we can figure this out," said Isabella, standing up to pace the room. "Nava first tell me what you've been dreaming about and then we can see if I can help."
Nava took a deep breath. "Okay. The dreams are almost always different but they all portray the same message. In each nightmare, I see people I love get killed in various ways. However, I have noticed Scarlet is in more and more of my dreams." Isabella stopped pacing and turned to Nava. "What do you mean?" Nava hesitated. This was why she didn't want to tell Isabella about the nightmares. "She has been in almost all of my dreams. Each time she's doing the killing though. She's never died. Last night's dream was one where she killed everyone," Nava said hesitating.
Isabella crouched in front of her. "Tell me about last night's dream," she said. Nava opened her mouth to speak but her voice caught in her throat. Dustin wrapped his arm around her shoulders and kissed her hair.
"At first it was pitch black, I could hear Scarlet whispering in my ear. She was saying she was going to kill everyone I loved. I tried to reach out and grab her but I couldn't move. I was tied up and couldn't do anything. I saw a door open and Isabella walked in but something was wrong. She was limping and her arm was hanging at a weird angle. I was freaking out because we all know that if someone could actually hurt Isabella they would be very powerful." Nava shuddered involuntarily.
"You untied me and told me to hurry, that Dustin was waiting outside for us." She said gesturing to Isabella. "I kept asking what was going on but you wouldn't answer me. You just turned around and walked into the hallway. As soon as you were in the hall though I heard a gunshot and watched as your body jerked and fell to the floor," Nava paused taking a few deep breaths before continuing. "Scarlet walked around the corner into the room and smiled at me. She told me not to worry and that I could be with you and Dustin in a little while. I crumpled to the floor thinking she already killed Dustin too. But then I heard Dustin calling my name and the pounding of his footsteps. Scarlet tied me back up and gagged me." Nava looked at the ceiling. "Dustin ran into the room and didn't make it two steps before Scarlet shot him. She walked over to me and grabbed my face. She told me I was next and then shot me. That's when I woke up."
Nava looked at Isabella who had stopped pacing and had sat down. Isabella looked at the floor. "Has Scarlet tried contacting you since her last attempt on your life?" she asked.
Nava shook her head. "No, she hasn't other than that last threat letter right after the attack." Nava paused to think. "Actually, now that you mention it, the nightmares started after that last letter came," she said.
Isabella sat back in her seat. "Okay, I think you're worried about another attack from Scarlet. For now, I want you to drink some tea that will help you sleep." She turned to Dustin. "Do you still have a diffuser?" She asked. Dustin nodded. "It's probably under the bed or in the closet somewhere." He said.
"Okay put some YlangYlang, Lavender, and bergamot in it each night to help relieve stress and anxiety." She said. Nava looked at Isabella. "For the most paranoid person on the earth you are handling this extremely well. I thought for sure you would lock me up and go hunt down Scarlet."
Isabella raised one of her eyebrows. "Who says I won't do exactly that along with setting up a security detail to make sure you don't leave your house?" she challenged. Nava stood up, both hands raised in surrender. "I honestly don't mind what you do, just please don't take it too far." Isabella laughed. "Define 'too far'."
Nava pretended to think for a second. "Too far is locking me in a bubble for the rest of my days," she said. Dustin stood up. "Alright, you two can talk security later. For right now, dinner's ready."
