Nava

Chapter 18

Nava had fallen asleep and Isabella was pretending to be asleep. She had gotten chewed out by Nava for not eating or sleeping much. She held back a sigh not wanting Dustin to know she was awake.

She hadn't been sleeping or eating because she had been so stressed. This expo had been huge and she had killed herself working on security details. Everything had been thrown out the window when Nava told her about the dreams. She suspected that Scarlet could control dreams for a while now having a few nightmares of her own. Nava just helped confirm that suspicion.

Isabella glanced at Dustin and Nava from underneath her eyelashes. She would never admit it out loud but she was jealous of them. She had been in one relationship before but it hadn't worked out. She bit back tears. There was a time when she had thought she would be married, when she had thought about starting a family. Until he had thought she was cheating on him.

Isabella subconsciously rolled her eyes. Why would she date him if she was just going to date another person behind his back. That was just too many faces to keep up. Looking back now she realised they had some communication issues.

Dustin hit a pothole and her eyes opened and she sat up before she realized what she was doing. "I thought so." Dustin said, smirking. Isabella winced. "How long have you known I was awake?" she asked "I saw you frown just a second ago and figured. I hit the pothole because if you were asleep you'd stay that way." He said

Isabella rolled her eyes. "I must be losing my touch." she said. Dustin smiled. "Or maybe I just know you well enough to know that you would be too wound up to sleep." He said Isabella smiled and looked out the window.

They drove in silence until Nava woke up. "How much longer?" She asked stretching. Isabella looked out the window. "I think only half an hour." she said. Nava nodded and turned around to look at her. "I'm kinda glad we're going to this safe house of yours. It means I can make sure you're eating and sleeping." she said, frowning. Isabella sighed. "I know I know." she said.

Isabella was off in her own world when they pulled up to her safehouse. It was a small white home with a wide yard. "Wow Isabella! Do you hire someone to come take care of it when you're not here?" Asked Nava. Isabella nodded and climbed out of the truck. "Yeah. The basement might be dusty though. I don't let people clean that." She said walking up to the door.

"Why not?" asked Dustin. Isabella typed in a code at the door. "Well for starters I hire the local kids to come keep the place looking nice and in the basement is where I keep all my weapons." She said opening the door and walking inside.

They walked into the front room and Isabella kicked off her boots and slumped into a chair sighing. Nava sat down on the couch and Dustun sat beside her. Isabella pinched the bridge of her nose. "Alright, first I'm going to run to the store and get some food. When I leave don't open any doors or the security system will kick in and you'll be stuck until I get back. The nearest store is about an hour away so I'll be a few hours. I'm sure you two can find something to do. Also-"

Nava stood up Cutting Isabella off. "No first things first you're going to tell me why you didn't let me know about Scarlet trying to kill you!" She said accusingly. Isabella narrowed her eyes and continued what she was saying. "Also I need your phones. I have no idea if Scarlet can track them or not so we're going to be cautious." She said, pulling her phone out and turning it off.

Nava folded her arms. "You're not getting my phone until you tell me why." she said. Isabella sighed pressing two fingers to her temples. "You were so stressed with Scarlet's attacks on you and when they stopped I didn't want to worry you again." She said.

Nava grabbed Isabella by the neck and lifted her out of her chair. "I don't care! You should have told me!" She said. Isabella winced. She could feel Nava's claws slowly growing and pressing into the skin on her neck. "Were sisters! Sisters tell each other when they're being attacked!" Nava continued to yell.

Isabella glared. She lifted her legs and caught one around Navas leg. She pulled it out from underneath Nava and they both fell to the ground. Nava growled and turned into a wolf. Isabella rolled out of the way and jumped up.

Nava lounged at Isabella teeth bared. Isabella gracefully flipped out of the way. Nava slowly circled around Isabella who was preparing herself to dodge the next attack. "You want me to tell you things?" Isabella yelled "Tell you I was being attacked?! Nava you had just gotten married and you were so stressed you were barely eating! Dustin was the only one who could get you to calm down from a panic attack and If I had told you about the attacks no one would have been able to help!"

Nava growled at Isabella. Isabella gave her a sad smile. "Nava, I know you don't believe me but I was trying to protect you. I should have told you and I'm sorry. Please let's just put this behind us. You know now, please can we move on?" Isabella got down on her knees and placed her hands on her thighs palms up.

Nava sat down and watched Isabella for a moment. Isabella sighed. "I understand that you don't trust me. However I'll make a deal with you. If you listen to me and do what i need you to do to keep you safe, I will honestly answer any questions you have."

Nava still looked unsure. Isabella sighed. After a few seconds of thinking she smiled. "I have a lie detector in the basement." she said in a sing-song voice. Nava turned back into her human form chuckling. "Alright, deal." She said

Isabella pulled her into a hug. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you before. Your right were sisters and I should have told you." Nava pulled away. "Yes, you should have but I do understand why you didn't." she said with a sigh.

Isabella smiled. "You can still do the lie detector but can I please go get food first? I'm starving." Navas stomach growled and she blushed. Isabella laughed. "I'll take that as a yes." she said. They both looked over to the couch where Dustin was watching them amused. "You two are funny when you fight." He said chuckling.
