Nava

Chapter 14

Nava walked into the Hospital wing Isabella was staying at. Dustin had gone to work and Nava didn't want to be alone. She also wanted to be here when Isabella woke up so she wouldn't freak again.

She stopped in the doorway and smiled at her friend's sleeping form. The doctors had decided to keep her there overnight and depending on how Isabella was doing today she would be released.

Nava sat down smiling knowing full well that as soon as Isabella figured she was better no one could make her stay. Nava laid her head back not daring to fall asleep. Yesterday she had taken a nap and woke up screaming which caused doctors and nurses to come running in.

Of course Dustin knew exactly what was going on and just sat down and watched as Nava subconsciously fought off the people trying to wake her up. Finally someone asked Dustin how to wake her up. "You can't wake her up," he said calmly. Eventually Nava woke up and the nurses left shooting her looks of sympathy.

Nava looked up as Isabella rolled over and groaned. "What in the world happened?" she asked groggily when she noticed Nava. "You haven't been sleeping lately and passed out on my doorstep." Nava said only slightly accusing Isabella. Isabella winced. "Oh, sorry about that." she said. Nava laughed. "It's fine but you need to eat and drink more." she said. Isabella smiled slightly "And you can't forget sleeping better." She said.

Nava smiled and shook her head. "I have no clue what I'm going to do with you." Nava said. Isabella laughed running her hand through her hair. "Well first lets go get some food because I'm starving." She said.

"Hold up, we need to tell a nurse before going." Nava said. Isabella cringed. "But do we really?" she asked. Nava laughed. Isabella wasn't a fan of hospitals in the first place so Nava guessed this was tortured for her. "It's fine at least they're not telling you what you can and can't eat." Isabella laughed "If they tried I would be out of this place before they could finnish telling me what my new diet is."

Nava stood up. "One sec ill be right back" she said, going to find a nurse. Nava looked around for a second before heading to the nurses station. "Excuse me," Nava said, walking up to the desk. No one answered, all eyes were on the small TV screen. Nava saw a few nurses and doctors with tears in their eyes. Nava listened in horror to the voice describing what happened.

"Today at the weapons expo there was a huge explosion that has killed 15 people, and seriously injured over 70." Nava turned around hurrying back to Isabella's room and saying a silent prayer of relief she didn't go to the expo.

"Isabella you won't believe what happened," Nava said with tears in her eyes. All humor left Isabella when she saw Navas tears. Nava opened her mouth to speak but couldn't. Isabella held out her arms and Nava slowly walked into her hug not trusting her legs to run.

"The weapons expo was bombed," she said with a shuddering breath. Isabella tensed and she held Nava at arm length. "No" she said, tears forming in her eyes. Nava nodded. "Isabella , are you going to be okay?" she asked.

Isabella was already off in her own world thinking about who knows what. Nava watched her for a minute before lightly shaking her shoulder. Isabella snapped back to reality. Nava watched as she started to get up.

She realized she should try to have her lay back down but right his second she was too numb to do anything but ask "What in the world are you doing?" Isabella grabbed her clothes off the back of a chair. "I'm going to the expo. I need to see the damage." she said.

Nava shook her head. "Isabella, this isn't your fault. You couldn't have stopped whoever did this." Isabella flung open the bathroom door and walked inside not bothering to respond.

Nava sighed and walked back out to the nurses station to tell them they were leaving. "Excuse me but I am going to be taking Isabella home now." she said to a nearby nurse.

The nurse shook her head with a tight smile. "I'm sorry but a doctor needs to give her permission to leave." she said. Nava put her hands on her hips. "Well my friend is going to storm out of that room any second now and I'm sure you heard how she was fighting off the nurses yesterday. So unless you want to stop her I would suggest getting a doctor in there now." she said emphasising the word now.

The nurse thought for a moment before holding up a finger and walking away. A few seconds later she returned with Doctor Whitlock from the day before. "Nava! Nurse Hendrix tells me Isabella is about ready to leave," he chuckled slightly. Nava nodded. "Yes sir, my guess is she will walk out any second now." she said.

Right then Isabella stormed out of her room with a determined look on her face. Doctor Whitlock laughed. "I have the feeling if I told her she had to stay I'll get punched hard." Nava said nothing as Isabella walked right past them. Nava shook her head. "Thank you Doctor Whitlock." she said walking after her friend who was half way down the hall.
