Chapter 9

Scarlet looked at her computer screen willing it to burst into flames. "Stupid thing why cant you just load?" She yelled at the screen. She needed to review the plan for the expo but if it couldn't even load then what was the point? Alex walked into the room. "Uh oh I've seen that face before. What's wrong?" he asked.

Though she never admitted it she marveled at how Alex had unconditionally loved her for two years. Part of her felt bad for never making it easy, but she had warned Alex when they first met she was hard to love. Scarlet scowled at her computer. "This stupid thing wont load! All I want to do is double check the plans for the expo!" She growled.

Alex laughed. "Babe, you've been over those plans so many times the computer is probably just sick of the same request over and over again. Come on, let's go get some lunch and then you can continue yelling at your computer." He said with a smirk on his face. Scarlet sighed and stood up. "I guess a short break would do me some good," she said grabbing her jacket

Alex wrapped his arm around her waist and led her out the door. "Where should we go for lunch?" He asked, Pretending to think "Oh! I know! Lets go to the local steakhouse. Wew can scare off some customers and have all the steak for ourselves!" He laughed wickedly. Scarlet smiled and stood on her tiptoe to kiss him. "Have I ever told you how much I love that devilish mind of yours?" She asked

"I could stand to hear it more" He replied picking Scarlet up bridal style and carrying her out to his car. He set her down and kissed her. Scarlet smiled up at him. "Are we going to scare some ejits? Or stand here kissing all day long?" She asked playfully.

Alex smiled and reached behind her opening the car door. "Why can't we do both?" he asked, helping Scarlet into the car. She acted like she was seriously pondering the question. "Because I'm hungry and we both have work to do," she said, closing the car door.

Alex walked to the other side and climbed in. "Guess what?" He asked Scarlet rolled her eyes. "What?" Alex smiled "I can hold the whole world in my hands," He said leaning close to Scarlet as if sharing a huge secret. "Impossible," Scarlet said as he cupped his hands around her face. "Nope, it's possible because I'm doing it right now," Alex said as Scarlet blushed.

Alex removed his hands from her face and turned on the car. Scarlet studied the man beside her. "I love you Alex," she said. The corner of his mouth quirked up. "I know," he said. Scarlet turned to look out the window focusing on the world as they sped past it.

A few minutes later Alex pulled into the steakhouses parking lot. He squoze Scarlet's hand and smiled. "Lets go scare some ejits," he said climbing out of the car. Scarlet laughed and put on her most fearsome snarl.
