Chapter 16

Scarlet struggled for a few seconds before realizing it was trivial to resist. Despite all her training Isabella was stronger and better than she was. The thought boiled her blood. She knew she was in grave danger but she wasn't scared. Just angry Isabella had beaten her again.

Nava was trying to get the knife away from Isabella. Scarlet grimaced. She had seen Isabella this way only once and it was terrifying. Isabella was no longer thinking about her actions. She was just thinking about removing the threat immediately. Scarlet could feel Isabella's hand shaking as she fought for control.

Scarlet closed her eyes and waited for the knife to slide through her throat. After a few seconds Isabella sighed and handed Nava the knife. Scarlet tried to attack but Isabella put her in a headlock. "I'd be careful, Scarlet. I handed Nava the knife but I could still easily kill you." She whispered calmly. Scarlet shuddered.

Nava bent down to Scarlet's eye level. "Scarlet why do you keep trying to kill us?" she asked. Scarlet was taken aback. Nava wasn't angry or upset. She looked hurt. She looked like she really wanted to know the answer. Scarlet turned invisible. Nava looked up at Isabella. "She's still here. She won't escape." She said. Nava nodded and sat down cross legged.

Scarlet watched her. He carefully reached for her pocket which had a button she could push to have Alex come help her. She prayed that Isabella didn't feel her moving. Her hand reached her pocket and Isabella finally noticed holding her neck a little tighter. "What are you doing?" she asked. Scarlet smiled and pushed the button.

She turned visible again. Nava looked confused why she was smiling until she heard a crash and Alex's voice shouting for people to move. Isabella let her go and they both ran. Scarlet coughed a couple of times trying to get oxygen back into her lungs.

Alex placed his hand on her back. "Are you okay?" He asked. Scarlet nodded and watched Nava and Isabella's retreating forms. "One second. I'm going to go kill them." Alex said walking away. Scarlet grabbed his hand. "Wait no! I slipped a tracker into Nava's pocket. With any luck she won't notice it's there. We're playing by my rules now."
