Nava

Chapter 17

Dustin Jumped into his Truck and hardly waited till the ignition started before putting it into drive. He had just seen the news and he needed to make sure his wife was okay. He was so glad she hadn't gone to the weapons expo. He held back tears of thanks.
As he pulled into the hospital parking lot he noticed Nava and Isabella burst out of one of the hospital doors. He jumped out of his truck and ran over to them. "Nava what's going on?" he asked, catching her as her legs crumpled with relife. "Scarlet's in the hospital chasing us. We need to go now! She's the one who bombed the expo!" She said straightening herself and running to his truck.

Dustin turned around and jumped into the cab. Isabella reached into the back seat and grabbed the rifle he kept there. He started to pull out as she jumped into the bed of his truck and got a few bullets ready to load.

Dustin drove away from the hospital as fast as he could. Isabella opened the back window. "Dustin go find us an empty field or something." She said. Dustin thought for a second before making a U turn and making his way outside of town.

Once he reached an empty field Isabella jumped out of the truck not waiting for him to stop. She rolled on the ground before coming to her knees and flipping her hair back. Nava rolled her eyes and climbed out of the vehicle. Dustin fought back a grin.

"Isabella what in the world are we doing here?" She asked. Isabella started patting herself down. "Scarlet didn't follow us. That probably means she put a tracker on one of us." She said checking the soles of her shoes. Dustin watched amused as Isabella checked herself for trackers and proceeded to check Nava despite her protests that she could do it herself.

Isabella found a tiny tracker that had been slipped into Nava's pocket. She checked for more and then walked over to a cow that had been watching them. After a minute she managed to get the tracker on the cow. Dustin held back laughter as he watched Isabella manage to get her foot stepped on twice and get pinned against a tree.

"Next time remind me to find an animal that won't break every bone in my foot." She said limping over. Dustin's previous laughter exploded from his chest and Nava started giggling.

"What do we do now?" Dustin asked once he stopped laughing. Isabella started pacing. He slipped his arm around Nava's waist. Isabella gave them a weary glance. "Well we can't go back to either of our houses. Not tonight at least." She said crossing her arms. "I have a safe house we can go to but it's kinda far." She said

Dustin pulled his keys out of his pocket. "Well we better get going then." He said. Isabella stopped pacing. "Are you sure. If you want we could probably go back to your house and just keep an eye out for Scarlet." She said not looking thrilled about the idea.

Dustin shook his head. "Isabella, you have a nose for danger. If you hadn't told Nava she couldn't go to the expo I wouldn't have a wife right now." He said pulling Nava close and kissing the top of her head.

Nava nodded. "Any doubts I might have had about your abilities disappeared when I heard about the bomb." Isabella gave them a grateful glance. "Alright then. Dustin we are heading to Hagerman Idaho." She said smiling slightly. Dustin nodded and they all headed back to his truck and climbed in.
