WOO IM NOT DEAD! I finally finished chapter 3! Even though this one is long, I don't get a pass for taking like a month. I really enjoyed writing this. Also sorry if the lore bit at the end is a bit UGH, its hard to get lore into the story all at once without taking a billion years. Anyway, tw: panic attack. Hope you enjoy!
Xisuma rubbed his eyes in an attempt to stay awake, he needed to find the source of the wind glitch. Empty mugs were scattered around, with many energy bar wrappers stuck inside one. The luminous screens hurt X's eyes slightly, but he pushed though. Rubbing his temples, he scrolled though Joe's code. He saw the characters written in galactic, stating that he could remember all past servers he had been on. Joe was one of three who had this strange piece of code, and that let Xisuma know that he could confide in him. Finishing reading the last line of code, the admin swiped the screens away and plopped down in a chair. 21 hours straight? Probably shouldn't do that again unless I risk Stress grounding me. He thought with a chuckle. Checking his phone for messages, his eyelids sagged, threatening sleep upon him. He fought it, and successfully opened the messages from Joe Hills.
<JoeHills> Hey X! I was wondering if you could fix a lag glitch at my base?
<JoeHills> Oh also I'm free to help you with the wind glitch if you need it
Xisuma cringed, thinking of all the glitches he was putting off, but he needed to go see Joe. Etho's Ghost block would have to wait a bit longer.
Xisuma was jittery all the way to Joe's base, and it didn't help that tiny gusts of wind were pushing him side to side. As he passed over the straight of Joebralter, (idk how to spell lol) he started to dive towards the ground. Sideways gusts of wind caused him to wobble in flight, and crash into the poet's sweet berry fields. Joe poked his head out the front door, chuckling as he saw X in a pile of limbs and wings in the prickly bushes.
"Hey there X! I see that you got my messages!" Mr. Hills shouted over the rows of berries.
"Sure did! Now my payment will be you getting these thorns out of my hair!" Xisuma said jokingly.
The lag glitch was inside Joe's winery, so X could take off his helmet. Joe wanted Xisuma to feel safe at his house, so he installed filters so he could breathe. Xisuma was sitting in front of the couch on the floor, an admin screen floating close to his face. His helmet was leaning against Joe's leg, who was sitting above X and picking the thorns out of his hair, Just like he requested.
"So how have you been faring Xisuma?" Joe asked the admin.
"Hmm" Xisuma replied, focusing on the code.
"Xisuma?" He asked again. No response. He lightly tugged on X's hair. Xisuma looks up,
"Did you say something? Sorry I was just really focused."
"No its fine," Joe smiled, "Just wondering if you're doing okay. You've been a bit distant lately." Xisuma flinched. He'd been so obsessed with finding a rational reason for the wind glitch, he had missed hanging out with the hermits.
"Yeah, I think so. Just a bit stressed."
Xisuma finished patching up the code. He stood, stretched and woke up Joe, who had fallen asleep sitting up. He chuckled at the poet's agape mouth, with drool dripping from a corner. The pair went outside, conversing as X prepared to take off.
"Now don't work yourself too hard, I don't think you want Stress putting you to bed again." Xisuma blushed, embarrassed, and was glad his visor covered it.
"s-she told you about that?" Joe giggled and nodded.
"I also know that you've been putting quite a lot of energy into finding that wind glitch. Is there a reason why you're so obsessed with it?" X's heart dropped. He should be finding the wind glitch right now. He needs to find it for the herm- no. He was. Trying to find it for himself. All the thoughts came rushing back at once, overwhelming Xisuma. When he got into the rhythm of patching code, he completely forgot about his problems. He could feel his heart rate rise as he felt a major panic attack coming on. The wind picked up. "X? are you okay?" the wind whipped around the two players. No no no no no no, he thought. He crumpled to the ground and curled up into a ball, pushing away the thoughts in his head.
