When I saw Him I Knew

Finals Day (Part 4)

I got back to class when we still had two hours of school left. They leave this time open for kids who have learning disabilities that need more time to complete assignments or to turn in late work. But most teachers play a movie in the background. I slowly opened the door and closed it like I've done a million times and I slipped back into my seat. I looked over at Tom and he was fast asleep. He's so adorable when he sleeps. His ears kind of fold so they look like a tent and his canines poke out from under his upper lip. I looked up at the whiteboard as the teacher erased the message of the exam and pulled down the projector screen so that he could play the movie. "What's it gonna be?" I asked silently. The teacher went to his computer, pressed a couple of keys on the keyboard, and the movie started. Then I saw him sit down at his desk, take off his glasses, and fall asleep. I looked at the screen and it was some comedy horror movie. I shrugged. It's better than that G-rated shit they made us watch back in high school. I grabbed my chips and looked over at Tom. As I slowly started to open the bag I could see his nose start twitching. I laughed a bit when I saw that. "You're so predictable," I said as I fully opened the bag. He opened his eyes and blinked a couple times. Without saying anything he opened his mouth and I put a chip in it. With a couple crunching noises the chip was gone. He smiled as he looked at me, his tail started to wag behind him. "You know me so well don't yah?" he said. "I do," I said, giving him his chips and soda. He let out this girly gasp. "You didn't," he said surprised. "Oh, but I did," I said smiling. "You're the best, I love you so much," he said, kissing me then tearing into the chips. "I love you too babe," I said. He didn't respond but his tail started to wag a bit faster. That made me smile a bit.
