That was weird. I headed to the courtyard to find my friends for lunch. Normally on Fridays (that's today) Adrien and Nino had lunch with us. They've definitely heard the rumors by now, so do they believe them? Do they hate me? I hope not.

I met up with Alya and Chloe at the entrance of the hallway. They both definitely saw a bruise on my arm from being shoved on the ground earlier, but they didn't ask. We got to the courtyard and everyone was still talking about me. We found Adrien and Nino and they joined us, walking with us to the hotel (Chloe was nice enough to host lunch today!). They didn't look at me weird, they acted as if the rumors didn't even exist. It was nice. I didn't want them to exist and when I was with my friends, we could pretend that they didn't.

The food was really good! Alya's mom is a really good chef. We walked back to school with some small talk. When we got there, we headed to class just like normal. I did well in class (i think) but a question was swirling in my mind the entire day.

What did Adrien think about the rumors?

I mean, he totally ignored them at lunch (so did Nino, but i'm not concerned about what he thinks about me). We've been 'just friends' for a while now and I hope that he doesn't want to stop being friends. I don't want him to fall for Lila's lies. He didn't the first time, when Lila said I beat her up, but working with Hawkmoth is a way different story. That's extreme.

I waited until my class ended and ran to Adrien's class. I know that the teacher he has for his last class dismisses her students late so I was able to get there before he left class.

The door of the classroom opened and out the students came. I saw Adrien and waved. He must've saw me because he headed right over, ignoring the person that was talking to him.

"Hey Marinette!"

"Hi Adrien, I have to talk to you."

"Okay..."

We walked for a while before I said anything because I was busy trying to figure out how to say it.

"You've heard the rumors, haven't you."

"Huh? Oh, yeah."

I looked up at him,

"Do you think they're true?"

He stopped walking and looked at me.

"What?"

"Do you believe the rumors?"

He looked at me with such a sincere gaze. His green eyes shined so beautifully even though the only light was the fluorescent one above us.

"Of course not. Marinette, I know what Lila is doing, why would I believe it?"

I let out a breath I didn't even know I was holding.

"Our everyday Ladybug would never join Hawkmoth. Marinette, you're one of the nicest people I've ever met. I'm pretty sure that even if an akuma tried to control you that you wouldn't join Hawkmoth."

I'm the nicest person he's ever met? Not anyone else? Not even Ladybug?

I was busy marveling at his compliments but still managed to start walking again, keeping up with him. I finally composed myself by the time we reached the schools front steps. I looked at the road. His limo was already here.

I looked back at him.

"I know you have a photoshoot now, have fun! And, t-thanks for believing in me."

He nodded and started walking past me, but I still heard him say "I'll always believe."

I stood there, silent. Did I imagine that? No, I couldn't have. I'm just a friend, that's what friends do right? They always believe? We are 'just friends' but I couldn't help but feel like what he said meant something else.

I regained my composure and saw Chloe and Alya walk up to me and we said our quick goodbyes. Finally, Saturday! No more drama for a few days!

Alya and I walked home, but I couldn't help but notice that Chloe was not walking to the hotel...
