Emma

I had no idea why my Grandpa wanted me to do this. Go on a road trip all the way across the United States with none other than Ethan Dolan?

I didn't even know Ethan for heaven's sake! I knew who we was, but I didn't know him.

But I trusted my Grandfather with my life, so I knew I had to trust him on this. I didn't know why, but I had to trust him.

I walked up the front porch steps of Ethan's house, right down the street from where my Grandpa lived.

And I knocked on the door.

"Hey," Ethan said as he opened the door.

"Hi, I'm-"

"Emma," he said. "You were Tony's  granddaughter, right?"

"That's why I'm here."

"Do you want some coffee?" He offered, letting me in.

I nodded as we walked into his kitchen. He walked to the coffee maker, and I sat at the table.

"So, what brings you here?" He asked, grabbing the coffee pot, and pouring a mug.

"In my grandpa's will, he gave me a van and a beach house. The beach house is in Atlanta, and he gave me a list of things I have to do before I can own it. One of those things is driving to Atlanta in the van, and taking you with the me. He didn't say why, but he told me that was the most important part."

Ethan set the cup of coffee in front of me before offering me the creamer and sugar.

"Wow. So, when were you thinking about going?"

"That's why I came here. I have all summer, but I didn't know when you were free for a spontaneous road trip."

Ethan smiled as he sat down in the chair next to mine. "I have all summer too."

And that's how it started.

It was exactly three days later when the van was stocked with everything we needed, and Ethan and I hit the road.

Grandpa was right. I had absolutely no clue why I was going on a road trip all the way to Atlanta with a boy I barely knew, but I'd come to find out that everything happens for a reason, and my Grandpa was a fucking genius.
