Chapter 10 - Closer

Author: So sorry for being behind schedule due to busy working and writing this story in parts. This is just some short scenes that I want to add before we get to the most serious chapters. Also, I had like four chapters in my drafts that are too short due to not knowing what else to write, so I thought it would be better to put it all in here as one chapter.

"(y/n)!" I was minding my business by walking to the store until I heard my name from Sasuke. I turn around to see him out of breath. "Have you seen Naruto?"

"Huh? What did he do this time-"

"Just answer the question!" He shouts which made me flinch a little with a serious look on his face.

I never seen him this serious before. Naruto couldn't have done something to make him this serious. The last time I saw him this serious was... Wait. My eyes widen to have now realized why Sasuke is acting so serious.

"Sasuke... Is he back?" I ask him.

"Yes, now tell me where you'd last seen Naruto. He's after him for some reason," He answers my question.

'What? Why would Itachi go after Naruto?' I ask myself. I know Sasuke doesn't want me to ask.

"I haven't seen him, but-"

"Ahh!" He groans in anger and about to run off.

"Wait!" I grab his left arm before he leaves. "I know what you're thinking, but don't! You can't do it all alone!"

He looks me with dead eyes. He move his right hand on my hand that is holding onto his left arm, but didn't move it away. "Come with me than. We can beat him down together. Before he gets close to Naruto. Help me, (y/n)," He asks for me to help.

I know I need to give him an answer, but my mind can't help to think about his words. I don't believe his "together" word. He believes he can take down his brother by himself. If I go with him, I would most likely be in the sidelines with Naruto. Maybe some parts I'll be of some help, but not a lot. I don't know how strong Itachi is or why he is after Naruto. However, I only know one thing since I heard the Uchiha Massacre.

"I can't, Sasuke..." I finally give him my answer. "Itachi has been gone for years and most likely gotten stronger. I won't be strong enough... and neither are you... I don't think you're ready and you shouldn't fight-"

He pulls his arm away hard which made me gasp. He looks at me angry. "Forget it! I don't need you to tell me I'm not ready because I am!" He shouts at me and jumps away.

Flashback - Minutes before Massacre - Third Person Point of View

It has been two months since the events of the young (y/n)'s father and grandfather's death. During those two months, her older brother had distance himself from her and going on longer missions. Momo has officially live with them at the (l/n)'s home to take care of (y/n) while Shun is away. Alice, a former team member of Shun, comes over to help by cooking and cleaning at times. She tried to talk to (y/n), but she doesn't bother to talk to her. (y/n) also had stay quiet in her classes and not social with anyone as well as Sasuke. He had respected her wanting to be alone since Itachi had told him what is going on.

On that day, (y/n) was about to leave to home until she noticed Sasuke. He was still practicing with his Shuriken targets. She knew she was very successful in that class with no problem. However, she couldn't help, but to wonder if she should help him. That's when he noticed her watching him. (y/n), pulling her hoodie down closer to her face, she decided to help Sasuke. After showing him a better way to throw them and him getting a little better, she could feel herself smile a little.
