Just like a flash-back, it all returned to him so suddenly. It had been a few hours now since he had awakened, to prevent overwhelming stress and confusion, Jungkook was only told undetailed scenes of what really happened. But it wasn't necessary anymore, as just a few minutes later, everything, had returned to him. From the missing letters, to the night of the fight that almost cost his life. Everything, it all came back to him.
Sitting on the hospital bed, he was unwilling to lay down. He struggled when the nurses tried to convince him to get some rest. But he refused, neglecting to return to that terrible nightmare, the thought of it alone sent shiver down his spine, aggravating his heartbeat.
" You feeling okay?" Martin asked. Regaining his senses, Jungkook turned his head to his worried friend, only to look away in an instant. He couldn't get himself to look him in the eye, or even look at him in general. He had changed somehow, even though it had only been six months. His features weren't the only thing that changed. He seemed to somewhat, have become more sophisticated, moreover, he oozed a hint of wisdom and experience.
" I just- I, can't believe it's been six months..." tilting his head backwards to the head pillow, he struggled to hold in his tears. " while everyone was... *sniff* I was here...sleeping..." he couldn't help but chuckle at the irony. Pathetic
" I wasn't your fault Jungkook, by sacrific-" he halted thinking carefully about what to say next. " You saved us all mate, if it weren't for you, we'd all be goners."
Resting his lids shut, he let the tears roll down his cheeks. And the worst part of it all was... She hadn't even visited me once throughout these six months...
Because she never loved you...
The voice of his nightmare resonated in his head, yet unlike before, it didn't disturb him the same way. He wasn't terrorfied, nor was he afraid, instead he let the words sink in, deep, accepting them to be true. For they were true, he only, just now realized.
She never loved me...
" I'm really sorry about what happened mate, I thought your wife would have been here to see you... But she-"
"Don't worry about it." His tone was deep, and rough. So much so that it send a jolt through Martin.
Jungkook leaned forward once more, taking a look at his friend. " Can you do me a favor?" Martin's eyes widen in shock. He wasn't able to recognise the person in front of him, the bright light that used to habitate Jungkook's eyes had left, and only emptiness remained.
He almost felt afraid of him at this point, as he didn't dare to ask for the favour before agreeing. " Yes * gulp* Of, course-" he tried his best to remain calm, and made sure not to stutter. " whatever you want mate."
" Could you, let me, crash at your house when they finally let me off." Martin's eyes widen at the unexpected. What was Jungkook asking. No, he wasn't even asking, it sounded more like a commande almost.
He may as well have said " I dare you to say no you punk. " and Martin would've had the exact same reaction.
" Yeah, of course, but why-" He wasn't given the opportunity to answer as Jungkook started talking over him. " Don't worry, it's only for a few months or so, than I promise to be out before you know it."
months?
Martin blanked out for a few seconds as he tried to compose himself from the sudden news shock. " Months? what do you mean, months? what about your wife, she must be-" A glare was sent his way, and he felt the life drift out of him.
Quickly he reminded himself of the situation at hand. Jungkook had been in a coma for six whole months, and throughout that period of time, his wife hadn't visited. Not even once.
