As Halloween approached, I had only gotten as far as to shooting blue sparks out of my wand when it came to the patronus charm, I was getting  very frustrated, and to make matters worse, the D.A had moved onto other spells, while I still couldn't manage a basic shape.

Considering how I had excelled in every other spell-casting class, this had sent me spiralling every time I failed at it, hating how I was so used to doing spells perfectly after only a few attempts.

I entered the hall for the Halloween feast, taking my seat next to Hannah and Luna. "Mirabelle." Luna smiled softly. "Hannah invited me to sit with you for the feast." She explained. "Oh, that makes sense, I had hoped you'd somehow transferred to Hufflepuff, though." I joked.

We had begun a discussion on how spooky the Great Hall looked while we ate our pumpkin soup and other Halloween themed dinner foods, when I felt someones eyes on me. I looked up to see none other than Draco Malfoy, watching me intently.

I narrowed my eyes at him suspiciously as he held eye contact for a moment longer, before turning back to his conversation with Blaise Zabini.

I looked over to the girls on either side of me to see if they'd noticed, but they were too busy discussing the floating pumpkins that loomed over us. I turned back to the pale haired boy, only to see he was no longer seated at the Slytherin table.

----

I walked through the doors of charms the next morning, and took my usual seat in the second row, waiting for Professor Flitwick to begin the lesson.

I fiddled with my quill, glancing around the classroom, when I locked eyes with him again. Sitting right across from me, was Draco Malfoy.

Why the hell do you keep looking at me, creep.

I scribbled onto a piece of paper before thrusting it across the classroom as it landed onto Draco's desk, rolling a little before he picked it up. I watched his eyes flicker across the paper as he read my note, looking up at me as he began furiously writing out his response.

I'm NOT a creep, and I haven't been looking you, you've been looking at ME

No, you've looked at me TWICE - I responded, tossing it back to him, feeling rather petty.

Draco wrote out his response and tossed it carelessly over his desk, as it landed just behind me on a Hufflepuff boys desk.

"Ernie, can I have that?" I turned to the boy behind me as he passed it forward.

"No note passing, only people who have something to hide do that." Professor Flitwick appeared in front of me, pinching the scrunched up piece of paper and tucking it into his top draw.

I looked up to see Draco's reaction, he seemed pleased with himself, getting me in trouble without getting any of the blame himself.

"5 points from Hufflepuff." Professor Flitwick finished, causing Draco's grin to widen.

I sighed in annoyance, Professor Flitwick very rarely took points.. He must be in a bad mood, I told myself, not really wanting to see him as a bad professor as he had proven himself to be kind when I'd first joined his class.

----

I went on with my classes that day, finishing Care of Magical Creatures just before Lunch. "Mirabelle, how is it that animals love you so much." Hannah huffed in annoyance. She had found it particularly difficult to study the snifflers reaction to certain pieces types of treasure when their attention was completely focused on stealing all of the other groups trinkets and gifting them to me.
