"Mirabelle?" Ron squinted from the dinner table as I entered the kitchen, he was the first to notice my unexpected arrival.
"Hi guys.." I smiled shyly as I took my seat next to Ginny and Fleur, who immediately pulled me into a tight hug.
"Oh I've missed you zo much!" She placed a kiss on my cheek. "Who's that letter for?" Molly smiled, noticing the letter I'd set down next to my plate.
"Oh.. Luna." I glanced over at Ginny.
"She'll be so pleased you're writing back to her!" Ginny beamed from the other side of me. "I hope so." I smiled down at my plate, the atmosphere was growing slightly awkward.
"Anyway, I'm starving." I lied, piling food onto my plate as everyone returned to their meals.
----
"Okay now kick off!" Ginny instructed me. "I know how to fly, Ginny." I chuckled, kicking off the ground and soaring into the air on the back of the broomstick.
"Okay, now we're just going to pass the quaffle back and forth so I can see how good you are on the broom." She threw the maroon ball my way, which I caught with ease.
"Good, now pass it back." She grinned, as I tossed the ball back over to her. "Ginny!" I groaned as she purposefully threw the ball two feet to my left.
"The balls never going to be thrown directly at you, you've got to move around to get it." She laughed as I flew to the ground to retrieve the ball.
"Okay, again." She threw the ball a few feet from my right as I shot after it, catching it and throwing it back at her.
She continues throwing it in different angles before deciding on changing it up a bit. "Okay now stand in front of the window, and you're going to block me from hitting it."
"Ginny you're going to smash the window!" I snapped, blocking the quaffle from hitting the window behind me.
"The adrenaline will make you work harder!" She threw another quaffle, which I barely hit out of the way before it came into contact with the glass.
"Ginnyy." I whined as she threw it again, and again, and again.
"I don't think keepers really for you." She laughed as the quaffle hit the side of the house, right next to the window.
"No shit, Sherlock." I groaned as we landed on the grass.
"Let's try this." She picked up a bat and tossed it my way. "Now I'm going to pelt bludgers at you, and you've gotta hit them away." She picked up a large ball and held it out for me to see.
"You're going to kill me." I groaned as she set the ball on me. I gripped the bat, swinging it hard and sending the bludger into Mollys freshly planted tomatoes.
"Shit-" I covered my mouth as half the plants where taken out by the bludger. Ginny was hugging her broom, snorting with laughter as Molly came rushing out of the house over to her tomatoes.
"FRED, GEORGE!" She bellowed as she retrieved the bludger. "Sorry Molly, that was me!" I confessed as she looked our way, her expression softened slightly though she was still, quite clearly distraught.
"Now maybe aim for the sky next time." Ginny laughed, throwing the bludger back at me as I hit it with ease, sending it soaring into the heavens.
"Wow Mira, you should be a beater." She smiled, catching the ball as it plummeted down towards her.
"Let's give you a go at catching the snitch though." She opened up a little compartment in the ball case, revealing a small golden ball.
"Alrighty then, fetch." She released the ball from her grip, and it shot out of her hands, pausing in mid-air as if deciding what to do before zooming over to the other side of the house.
"Go on then, go get it." Ginny patted me on the back as I shot off after it.
I turned around the house, spotting it near the kitchen window, I sped after it, but it was way too fast. I zoomed down, almost hitting a hedge as the snitch escaped from me, flying up to the roof, where it hovered, waiting for me.
I spent maybe 30 minutes chasing after the snitch, until eventually Ginny decided the seeker position, wasn't for me. Which I agreed with.
"Now watch and learn." She shot upwards in the direction of the snitch, catching it within two minutes.
"What the fuck Gin." My jaw dropped open as she landed back on the ground, snitch in hand. "You're great at beating. You should try out." She set all the balls back into their places before we headed back inside.
"I'm serious." She went on. "You're actually amazing, and that was your first try." She continued as we entered the living room. "Mail for you, Mira." Bill tossed you a letter.
You recognised Luna's writing immediately and tore the letter open.
Mirabelle,
Oh I'm so pleased you wrote back!
"I told you." Ginny grinned as she read the letter over my shoulder.
Oh it'd be so wonderful if you could turn it into a necklace! If you wanted to you could send it with your next letter, I'm rather gifted with jewellery-type spells. I made my butter-beer necklace myself!
I'm glad you're having fun, Ginny tells me you were planning on learning how to play Quidditch soon, let me know how that goes.
The letter went on for quite a while, Luna was very excited to have received a response from me. "Don't forget to tell her miserable you are at catching the snitch." Ginny laughed as Harry and Ron entered the room.
"You've been practising Quidditch?" Harry asked, taking a seat next to Ginny as we nodded.
"Yes, Ginny's been helping me." I smiled. "Really, maybe we can all play an actual game tomorrow, I'm sure you're pretty tired today. Is Ginny a good teacher, everyone says she did an excellent job as substitute seeker last year, I'm worried she might still my spot." He chuckled, as Ginny flushed red.
Is she embarrassed orr- ;)
"Oh she's brilliant, I'd be worried." I laughed as Ginny smiled down at the carpet.
----
"Bludger heading Ron's way!" Ginny called out as I zoomed over to Ron, swinging my bat and sending the bludger over to Bill, who was the other teams chaser.
"Hey you're good, Mirabelle." Fred and George said in unison from the other side of the field. They were the other teams beaters.
Suddenly, Harry shot forward, clearly after the snitch. Ginny followed after him, not far behind. "GO GINNY!" I cheered as she gained on Harry. "Too slow." Harry grinned back at her, as his fingers closed over the small golden orb.
"We win!" George bellows as we all landed softly on the grass.
"Look, the letters are here." I pointed out Errol flew over to Ginny, landing clumsily on her shoulder.
Ginny snatched the letter from the bird, tucking it away in her shorts suspiciously. "Ooh, who's that from." Fred and George teased.
"Accio letter." I pointed my wand at Ginny, as her letter shot out from her pocket into my hands. "Oh my god it's from Dean!!" I squealed, holding the letter away from Ginny as she shot forward, trying to retrieve it.
"Miraa." She whined as I finally handed her the letter. "Aw, you should've opened it Fred and George complained as they continued to tease Ginny over her letter.
I looked over at Harry who was standing on the other side of Ginny.
He looks.. mad? Oh shitttt
A sudden realisation came over me as Harry noticed my gaze, his expression changing to a grin, as if he was laughing at Fred and George's jokes.
Too late Harryyyy I already saw.
I grinned to myself, heading back inside as Ginny tried to escape the twins' torments. "I hate you Mirabelle." She huffed when we made our way upstairs.
