For the next couple days, up until potions on Friday, Draco and I avoided each other. The brief moment that we shared in Professor Snaps cupboard had stirred up confusing, and unfamiliar emotions within me. Emotions that I didn't fancy experiencing ever again, especially when it came to Draco.
However, our plans to ignore each other for the rest of eternity came to an end when we entered the potion classroom on Friday afternoon. It was double period, where we would be putting together the Amortentia potion with one another, as we had assigned partners.
"Can you get the peppermint oil?" Draco asked awkwardly as I placed our cauldron onto the blazing heat. "I don't know which one it is, you get it." I sassed, and he rolled his eyes, heading to the front of the classroom to retrieve the peppermint oil.
"You grabbed three eggs, we only need one." I shook my head as he returned with the peppermint oil. "Well I forgot how many we needed, why didn't you tell me to put two back." He remarked, apparently he was already past the awkwardness, and was overtaken with his usual loathing-ness towards me.
"Because I didn't know."
"Then why are you getting up me about- Whatever just add the fucking rose thorns." He scoffed as I pulled the lid off the container of thorns.
"Nevermind, I'll do it." He snatched the container away from me, assuming that I'd cut myself again. "I'm not a baby." I snatched the container back from him. "Yeah well, you're clumsy and I don't want to waste any extra time healing up your hands." He grabbed the container back as I held on stubbornly, causing the thorns to tumble out onto the ground.
"See, fucking clutz." He groaned as we both ducked to gather the thorns, bumping our heads as we did so. "Says you." I winced as out foreheads came into contact. "Ouch." I rubbed the bump that was now forming, soothingly, as Draco gathered the rest of the thorns and dropped them into the cauldron.
"That was your fa-"
"Do you two ever stop arguing." Ernie Macmillan butted in from behind us. "Shut up, stupid Hufflepuff." Draco retorted. "Don't talk to Ernie like that!" I snapped back at him as Ernie rolled his eyes at our pettiness.
"Alright, now I'm handing out some worksheets for you to fill out when you've completed your potions!" Professor Slughorn sent an abundance of parchment flying around the room with the flick of his wand, one of them landing gracefully on my textbook.
"We need to write down what we smell." I huffed as Draco stirred the potion. "How long till it's done?"
"It needs to sit for a few minutes." He pulled the spoon out of the cauldron and set the lid on it, snatching the piece of parchment out of my grasp as he began filling it out.
"It'd be done by now." He lifted the lid of the cauldron as it's scent filled the air around us, sending me spiralling.
"W-What do you smell.." I picked up my quill and held it above the parchment, awaiting his answer. "Er.. Vanilla."
That's ironic, pretty sure I smell like vanilla.
"And lavender.. with an undertone of.. old books..?" He went on. Hang on.. I use lavender shampoo.. And, I read.. I guess everyone reads though.
"W-Warm summer rain-" He leaned closer to the potion, craving it. Ohhh, I get itt.
"Oh, Haha. Very funny, Draco." I scoffed, setting the quill down and folding my arms across my chest in annoyance. "What?" He scowled at me, snapping out of his trance. "What do you really smell." I stared at him, annoyed.
"I just fucking told you wha-" His lips parted slowly, as he suddenly came to a realisation. "Pansy.. I smelt Pansy, I was just messing with you." He turned away from me, suspiciously. "Well.. What the fuck does Pansy smell like?"
