I paused as Draco jumped to his feet, closing the door to the room quickly, but quietly. "You're ruining everything, just leave." He whispered harshly as I wandered the room, careful not to touch anything that looked too sinister.

I reached the back of the room, admiring a large cabinet that acted as the centre piece to all these other strange objects. I ran my index finger along its polished wood, gathering dust on my it as I rubbed it between my thumb.

"What exactly is it that you get up to, in here?" I opened the door to the cabinet as it creaked open, revealing its empty inside. "Nothing, you need to go." He made another grab at my arm, but I was too quick.

Instead of pulling away, I grabbed his own arm, pulling his sleeve upwards to reveal the black tattoo on his forearm. The inky snake seemed to quiver slightly as it stuck out of the skulls mouth.

I let out a disappointed sigh, thrusting his arm away as he stared at me in bewilderment. "What the fuck. How did you-" He tried to find the words to say, but he was at a complete loss.

"I knew it." I scoffed lightly, turning away from him to inspect the shelves. "You're working for him, just as I had suspected. You lied to me." I continued, keeping my voice steady despite my urges to scream.

"When did I lie, huh?" He followed after me, deciding on taking the angry route. "You told me you didn't want to lure me back to my father the night we kissed." I retorted. "I don't want to." He sighed exasperated as I rolled my eyes.

"You told me you never cursed Katie." I spun around, still not believing a single word he said. "I didn't, the inn keeper did. I put her under the imperious curse!" He yelled, as if this was so much better than doing it himself.

"That's even worse!" I yelled back, letting my anger take over me. "You just bend the truth. I know you're just trying to earn my fathers favour. You're going to find some way to bring me back to him." I continued as he ran his finger through his hair in frustration.

"Just listen to me, for one-"

"No, I won't! I'm not going to sit here while you wriggle your way out of the truth, once again." I stepped closer to him, pressing my finger into his chest, accusingly. "I'm not going to lie, just listen to me." He snapped, pushing my hand away.

"I don't want to hear it. Just tell me what he's got you doing in here." I demanded. "If you could give me one fucking minute to explain to you-"

"Are you going to tell me?" I cut him off. "Are you going to tell me or am I wasting my time." I ignored his request. "No I'm not going to fucking t-"

"Then I'm leaving." I spun around, flinging the doors open as I stormed down the hallway. if I let him explain, he'll just poison my mind with more of his lies. I told myself as I hurried down the stairs, bumping into Ginny halfway down.

"Mira?" She clutched her chest, as if she was relieved it was just me. "What's wrong?" I held her shoulder to prevent her from tumbling down the stairs. "Nothing, I'm just trying to avoid Dean.." She smiled guiltily.

"Did you want to tell me about it on the way to my common room? If you've got nowhere to be, that is." I started back into the hall before me as she followed by my side. "Could I come in actually?" She asked as I agreed to her request, happy to have a distraction from Malfoy.

"And he keeps trying to help me through the portrait hole." She whined. "I'm a big girl, I can do it myself. He's so clingy, I just.." She sighed, clearly Dean was proving more trouble than he was worth.

"I reckon you should've stuck with your crush on Harry." I chuckled, trying not to be casual as I didn't want her to know, that I knew, that Harry liked her.

"Yeah because four years of that got me somewhere." She groaned sarcastically. "Well you're older now, you never know?" I shrugged as we entered the warm Hufflepuff common room.

"Wow." She gasped. "That was Hermione's exact reaction." I laughed as I led her into my dorm room where Luna and Hannah sat, completing their Astronomy homework. "Ginny?" Hannah sat up on her bed.

"Oh, how was the dinner, you two." Luna smiled, setting her quill down on her parchment. "It was fun, I guess." I stared at Luna in an attempt to send her a secret message with my eyes. One that would read; I need to talk to you, right now!

I desperately needed a Luna chat after my run-in with Draco, but Luna wasn't looking at me, she was listening to Ginny's rant about her relationship with Dean.

"Belle needs to talk to me, give us a moment." Luna interrupted Ginny mid-sentence, taking my hand gently in hers as we exited the dorm. "How did you know? You weren't even looking at me?"

She shrugged. "So what's on your mind." She began as we walked side-by-side down the corridor. "It's Draco. I saw his dark-mark just now. I know he works for my father." I didn't try to hide the sadness in my tone, either way she would've known how I'd felt.

"Tell me what happened exactly." She hooked her pinky around mine, in an attempt to comfort me as I relayed our encounter, not missing a single detail.

"Perhaps you should've let him explain." She swung our arms gently as we continued roaming the deserted castle. "I didn't want to give him the opportunity to convince me that he had some valid reason. He'd just lie."

"Is that really why, or are you scared that he will have a valid reason." She asked as we turned a corner at the sight of Mrs. Norris. (We were out past curfew, after all, so she was the last person we needed to run-into.)

I pondered her words for a moment, perhaps she was right. "I don't know.. Both maybe." Her wise words never ceased to amaze me. "Do you want to go to the astronomy tower?" She asked as we took another turn. "Sure."

"I believe you are strong-willed enough to withstand, and identify and lies he may throw your way." She admitted as we walked up the winding stairs to the astronomy tower. "And anyway, if you make it clear you won't tolerate any dishonesty, I'm positive he'll be too scared to lie to you." She added.

"Guilt trip him into telling the truth?" I laughed as she giggled along with me. "I suppose that's one way to put it." We took a seat on the balcony, resting our arms on the railings as we admired the twinkling stars.

"Isn't it strange.." She stared up at the stars. "The amount of matter in the universe has never once changed." She pointed out as I lay back on the wooden floor.

"What do you mean?" I laid back on the wooden floor, drawing constellations with my fingers. "Well, don't you find it interesting that everything before us was once part of something more. That star, right over there, it could have once been a part of a small acorn."

I admired the way my moonstone ring shone slightly from under the moon. "Look it's you!" I giggled, nudging her hand over to the left, pointing her finger at the full-moon that was watching over us.

"You know, Draco wasn't born evil, neither was his father, or his father before that. Once upon a time a molecule that makes up Draco's nose could have been a part of Anne Franks left thumb." She added, dreamily. I held back my giggles, what a peculiar way to put it.

"You must know that certain parts of a person, are mostly good, while other parts can be mostly bad. I truly believe Draco is good, he just has a bad-boy facade."

"It's frustrating that my mind doesn't work the way yours does." I sighed enviously. "No matter how hard I try to look at things from a different angle, you always present me with a new perspective. And you don't even try." I nudged her as she smiled softly.

"That's what friends are for."

(Just thought I'd make a cute little chapter of Mira and Luna, Luna's my favourite 🥺 Also this chapter is inspired by Erin Hansons poem; Matter.)
