Harry flung one of the large, black doors open and sprinted out of sight in the direction of my mother who was still laughing maniacally.
I stared at the door for a moment, debating on whether or not I dared follow. I had done nothing but got in the way since we'd arrived, when all I had wanted to do was help. I felt considerably weaker, and the thought of Sirius' pale face was still burned into my mind as I replayed his death over and over again in one agonising loop.
However, my question was answered when Dumbledore started after him, not long after he'd left. I caught up to Dumbledore when he'd reached the lifts, we stepped into one and I watched as he pressed one of the small glowing buttons, which sent us shooting forward in the direction of Bellatrix's voice.
"Mirabelle." Dumbledore smiled at me as I stared up at him, taken aback by his sudden change in mood, he looked almost happy. "P-Professor." I began before he cut me off. "I do not wish for you to be here, seeing as your father will soon arrive. However I will not try to stop you, I only ask that you be cautious." He warned as the lift came to a halt and opened, painfully slow.
We stepped out and entered into the large main foyer of the Ministry of Magic. Next to a large fountain was Harry, and.. my father. Just as Dumbledore had predicted. A streak of light shot from my fathers wand in the direction of Harry, and before I could react, a large headless statue came to life. Jumping down from the large fountain it had once been, and stood in front of Harry protectively.
"Dumbledore." My father hissed, as he turned to face us. "And.. Dear Mara.. Could it be?" He squinted slightly before sending a streak of green light from his wand that was sent speeding towards Dumbledore.
But Dumbledore was too quick, he raised his wand and with the flick of his wrist, the rest of the fountains' statues had sprung to life.
My mother started towards me, a look of insanity flashed across her sunken grey face before a small, scrawny looking statue started towards her at Dumbledores command, making her scream like a child and thrust spells at the statues. Which only ricocheted off uselessly.
I turned back to Dumbledore and my father. "There is nothing worse than death, Dumbledore!" My father proclaimed as he sent another killing curse his way, which Dumbledore deflected with ease.
Professor Dumbledore sent a line of fire towards Voldemort, which he quickly transformed into a serpent of fire. I pointed my wand at the serpent as a ball of flames burst above us, revealing my father as he reappeared.
The scene before me was messy, I didn't quite understand what was happening but as the snakes rose to strike my Headmaster, only one thing came to mind.
"Avada kadavra!" I swung my wand in the direction of the serpent as a beam of red-light shot through the end of it, causing the snake to burst into flames and disappear.
I took in a sharp breath as the surge of light disappeared from my wand, I had performed a killing curse. A killing curse that had only killed a puppet of my fathers.. Never the less, a killing curse..
"MASTER!" Bellatrix wriggled free of the statues grip and ran towards where Voldemort had stood just moments ago, he too had vanished.
"Stupefy!" I sent a stunning spell to my mother, who was sent flying backwards into the fountain, causing her to sob loudly from the shallow water as her eyes scanned the room for any signs of her master.
"You ungrateful brat!" She screeched, raising her wand at me. "Stupefy!"
----
My eyes fluttered open as a stream of white light flooded my sight, I blinked a few times as my vision finally came into focus, revealing the room I was in. I sat up in bed as Madam Pomfrey strode over to me hastily. "Oh thank goodness, you were out for quite a lot longer than expected." She handed me a glass of water as I gulped it down.
