That eleventh letter was the last one in her hands.
Wiping away the tears that were running rivers down her cheeks, Lily stared at the last line. She really wanted to call him.
She couldn't get the one thought out of her head that this was real. This story that she had just read was real, a story about a boy's life which fell to pieces over one woman who he held so close to his heart that she could have been part of it.
The tear stains lining the pages and smudging the ink could have been his, or they could have been hers, tears she had added when she was reading it.
As she dwelled on this one simple fact, sobs started forcing their way up her throat, breaking through the lump that had been previously situated there.
She didn't even know this boy, all she knew was that he was the famous Luke Hemmings of 5 Seconds of Summer, a band which had broken up two months ago, causing about five million fans to run rampage.
The tears suddenly stopped.
If it was currently two months ago, then Luke must not have written the last letter very long ago.
Lily flew out of her room and down to the kitchen, bumping right into her mother.
"Lily where have you been for the past two-"
"Mum! Mum, when we're the previous owners of the house last here?" Lily exclaimed, gasping for air because of the dash she had made down the stairs.
"Oh, it was only a couple of days ago, they showed me around themselves for a last minute check of the house." Lily's mother smiled down at her daughter.
"Okay! Thanks mum!" Lily then ran right back up the stairs to her room.
Luke must have come up to his old room then and written that last letter. If only he had left his...
phone number.
The letter that had previously been in her hand had fallen upside down on the carpeted floor of the room, and Lily could see a chain of numbers scrawled across the page.
She could only hope those numbers would lead her to him.
Lily quickly took her phone from her pocket and typed the number onto her keypad. She waited and listened to the beeps, holding her breath and praying it was the right number.
One ring,
Two rings,
Three rings...
