The clock rolled over to the next day, and with that rolled the anniversary over of the Woodsboro Massacres. Sidney had been released from the hospital, she had been pretty hurt in the explosion but she claimed she was okay and didn't need any more help and released herself and returned to the hotel where she was originally staying with Jennifer. Sidney stood in front of the mirror in the bathroom, she had some cuts and bruises rolling up the side of her body.
She sighed and turned away and rested her body back against the counter. She needed to finish getting ready as she had her campaign speech today, and she decided on the anniversary to get her point across. She needed people to understand. She knew it was risky and that the chances of Ghostface making an appearance was high, and she was ready for it. He caught her off guard once before and she wasn't going to allow that to happen again. Sidney had a small revolver tucked into the side of her boot.
If Billy, Stu, Mickey, Roman, Jill, Charlie and even Ms. Loomis taught her anything it was to be ready for anything, and she was this time.
Her phone rang and she smiled down when she saw Laura's name come up.
"Hey, Laura", she said softly with a smile.
"How are you doing, Sidney?"
Sidney just sighed a little and turned and inspected herself in the mirror again. "Good, surprisingly" she replied honestly. "How are you?"
She took a moment to reply, and Sidney wondered if the call had been disconnected. Finally she spoke up.
"Not too good" she spoke softly, Sidney heard a door shut in the background of her phone call. "I'm not dealing with this".
"It's okay, Laura. Trust me I know, alright".
"How am I supposed to deal with this?" She asked. Sidney could hear her voice as it cracked, she was beginning to cry. Sidney went to speak, but Laura cut in. "I don't know how I'm supposed to process all this and live with this pain".
"Why don't you come over, Laura? We can talk" she suggested. "I'm staying in town, at the only hotel Woodsboro has got".
Laura chuckled. "This place needs to expand on it's tourism. Yeah, I'll come over" she said. "That'll be nice".They ended the call and Laura felt like she was able to relax for the first time in a long time. Being tormented by a serial killer and her distant sister returning she was starting to feel overwhelmed. So she left her room and walked down the stairs and went into the living room where her mother and sister were barking at each other once more, she sighed loudly and they both stopped and turned.
"Oh, Laura!" Her mother said with a high pitch.
"I'm going out" she was cold and quick but made sure they both understood. "I don't know when I'll be back", she walked towards the front door before her mother called out.
"Where are you going?"
"To see Sidney?"
"Uh, no. I don't think so. You're not going to see Sidney Prescott!"
Laura stopped where she was and turned and looked at her mother with a dead look. "Unless you physically stop me, mother. I will. She's the only one that can seem to help me right now so unless you're going to tackle me and stop me I'll be going".
Laura left, she walked out the front door and was on her way.As Laura made her way across town to Sidney, her phone rang and she jumped in the sudden shock of the ringtone going off. She picked it up and looked at the screen, it was an unknown caller. Laura believed it was the killer, and the chances of it being him or her was incredibly high, she sighed and answered it and lifted it to her ear.
"Hello?"
"I've missed your voice, Laura" giggled Ghostface, a sinister chuckle embedded within his voice. "Did you miss me?"
"Oh, so much" she replied coldly. "What do you want?"
"To talk. To dismember. The usual".
"What does that have to do with me?"
"Because you're the one who can change everything. You can turn the tides right now if you try", Ghostface said with a chuckle. "We aren't too different you and I, Laura. You seem to think you're the black sheep and that you're unique and different. But you're wrong. There is another just like you, and she is much darker and unpredictable then you could even imagine".
"Sidney?"
"No, someone closer".
Laura didn't know who he was talking about, and that made her incredibly uneasy.
"You look scared".
She froze. "What?"
"I said" the phone went dead, and the voice of Ghostface behind her made her spin. "You look scared", he raised the knife and ran towards her. She screamed out, staggered backwards then ran across the street, nobody was around and she cried out for them to assist her. But nobody ever came to her aid. She ran between the mini mart and post office and kicked over garbage cans and tried pushing dumpsters out to slow him down, he jumped over many but collapsed over another and hit the ground with a grunt.
Laura ran down the alleyway which took her towards the hotel where Sidney was indeed staying.
Ghostface got back up, grunted and hunted her down. She hadn't gotten far by the time he caught up with her. He grabbed her firmly, she yelped and he then slammed her head into the wall which made her stagger down. She turned and held her hand against the fresh gash on her forehead and looked up at Ghostface who knelt down in front of her and waved the blade in her face. She felt the eyes burning on her, but yet she couldn't see them. Instead all she saw was a pair of black eye holes that became a quick blur when a foot slammed into it's chin forcing it back.
Laura looked up at Sidney who stood there, she huffed with annoyance as Ghostface landed on his back with a groan. She grabbed Laura, pulled her up then dragged her away. Laura kept looking back at Ghostface who rolled onto his side and watched them leave. She began crying, her voice was broken as the tears rolled down her cheeks.
