Extraordinary Merry Christmas

It felt like it had taken forever for Christmas to finally roll around. This year had been so stressful, so it was nice to be able to come home from school, make some hot chocolate, and be able to watch Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer on cable. Like always, I had already gotten most of my shopping done early. Black Friday deals always saved me a lot of money during the holidays, and the money I saved would typically go towards gifts I didn't get that I really wanted.

The only person I hadn't gotten a gift for yet was Nick, but I didn't even know if we wanted to get each other gifts. We had only been going out for a few weeks and I wasn't really sure on the protocol for when couples start getting each other gifts.

It was the first rehearsal we had as one team again, and it was nice to be all together again. Not only were we passed the minimum amount of people needed, but we were stronger than ever. The choir room looked gorgeous. We had actually been able to decorate the room this year and not just use Santana's dead neighbor's tree. The tree this year actually had pine needles all over and didn't have dead patches in some places.

As I took my seat, Finn announced, "Alright people. My man Rory here has a few words he would like to say."

"Thanks Finn Hudson." I thought it was adorable how every time he referred to Finn, he would say his full name. "So you guys, my mom was going to come visit for the holidays, but the plane tickets are expensive, so it's my first Christmas without my family." Poor Rory. Spending Christmas alone was possibly the worst punishment I could think of for a person. Especially when your entire family lives in another country across the ocean. "I'd like to cheer myself up by dedicating this song to them, and to the King."

"Jesus?" Kurt asked, but the violin opening played over anyone's response.

~Blue Christmas (sung by Rory Flanagan)~

I will never get over how enchanting Rory's voice is. It really brought me further into the holiday spirit. "God, that song was depressing. I may actually be dead right now, " Santana exclaimed. What a nice, short sentimental moment.

"I think that what Santana means by that is although that was mournfully beautiful, now that the whole Glee Club is back together, I think we should focus on the more joyous and pageant aspect of this holiday season." He literally will not be spending Christmas with his family, what more do you want from him?

"Rachel's right. Last Christmas was super sad. Kurt was at another school, Sue trashed our tree, and Artie got a pair of magic legs that broke the next day." I had completely forgotten about that. I guess the year did go by pretty quickly. "This year is going to be..."

"This year is going to be a whole new sprig of mistletoe. Guess who's not getting coal in their stocking for once... us. Rory, have a seat. I just got off the phone with Don Borowski, the local stage manager at Lima's PBS affiliate. Turns out their annual broadcast of the Yule Log burning has been cancelled."

"The hell?" I didn't know Puck was so invested in the burning of the yule log. I thought he was Jewish.

"Yeah, and they can't afford the licensing anymore. But thank you Scrooges that own that copyright because Don came to Sectionals, he loved what we did, and is offering us..."

"A Christmas special featuring all of us? Please tell me you said yes."

"Not only did I say yes, but when Don asked for a director, I nominated you Artie. He saw West Side Story and loved your work and wants to take a meeting."

"But I... I swore I would never sell out and turn to TV. I'm really going to have to think about this Mr. Schue." I couldn't believe it. First, this was like the opportunity of a lifetime for Artie. Also, I couldn't believe I was going to be on television. My big debut on the big screen. But by big screen, I meant a few people in Lima, Ohio who still actually watch cable.
