Tina was still bugging me about my relationship with Sam during lunch. While we got together last year, we kept our relationship mostly private from everyone else. I mean why would everyone need to know about what we did in private? It didn't concern them, but I guess good gossip is always nice to listen to.
"Mallory, what's the deal with you and Sam?" she asked. "You both have been stealing glances in the choir room and you still haven't told us what you did over the summer." As I set my lunch tray on the table, I guess everyone got invested in our conversation because all the girls had tried to grab a seat nearby. They all had pleading eyes and looked genuinely interested.
"Okay, okay. It's true. We spent most of our time at the lake." All of them began squealing and murmuring.

Mr. Schue ran into the choir room with an extra pep in his step. "Drumroll Finn, please." He then began to write "Marry Me?" on the board. I thought we already performed at a wedding. And if we're going to continue that trend, I'm going to have to start demanding a salary.
"Yes, I am going to propose to Ms. Pillsbury." Oh my gosh. We all began cheering and celebrating their accomplishment. "This is the kind of news you share with your family, and you guys are my family." A little strange, not going to lie.
"Mr. Schue, we're so happy for you. We totally don't think you're going to mess it up again this time." Wait again? Am I missing something?
"Here's the thing: it's got to be perfect."
"I'm sitting down with Emma's parents to ask for permission, and then the proposal needs to knock her well-cleaned socks off. And that's where you guys come in okay? So the assignment for the week is to come up with a proposal number. And you know Ms. Pillsbury, it's got to be perfect."
"You can count on us Mr. Schue," Artie reassured him. I mean with the amount of romantic-comedies I watch, I should be able to come up with something. I need the powers of Freddie Prinze Jr. and Julia Stiles to help me.

Walking out of the choir room, I heard a voice coming up from behind me. "Pretty romantic, huh? Think you're going to get married someday?" Sam asked.
"Of course, just when I find the right guy."
"Well you are in luck because there's this guy I know that's really into you and is blonde and does amazing impressions..."
"Sam..." I gave him a stern look.
"I know, I know, you have a boyfriend." I paused for a second. I couldn't believe everyone had kept my request of not telling anyone about the breakup. I thought someone would have opened their mouth.
"Right. Besides, I thought I told you that those feelings are long gone."
"Is it because I'm not the stud athlete I used to be?" He is pulling at any string he can find to try and figure me out. "I mean you would love wearing my letterman jacket when it got slightly chilly, but not cold enough for you to bring your own jacket."
"Sam, we were in a short relationship, but it's over."
"You're telling me that you can't look back to everything that happened last year and smile? Not even prom? New York?" I was staring into his deep green eyes. He was right. Those were good memories.
"Okay you're right. Those were fun memories. But what we have is over. It's gone. It's not even in Ohio. Summer was a long time ago Sam, it's time to catch up." I walked away before I had to listen to anymore of his excuses for still being in love with him.
