Chapter 16

(Y/n)'s POV
      When we woke up, Rantaro went back to his room to get ready, while I stayed in my room and got ready. We walked to the dining hall together. When I got there, I saw everyone except Kokichi there.

      "Where's Kokichi?" I asked. It was weird, he was usual there before me. "Who cares?" Maki spoke up first. "Come one, Maki Roll! Don't be like that!" Kaito told Maki. She huffed in response. Before I could tell her anything, Himiko spoke up "Don't be so mean, Maki!" Maki glared at her.

      "We don't know where he is. He never showed up." Tsumugi answered my question. "He didn't show to to dinner last night either, right?" Shuichi spoke up.

      I started to panic. I looked around the room, waiting for anyone to prove my worries wrong and say he was there. No one said anything.

      I started to walk towards the exit. I didn't care if I didn't eat, I was used to it, I just wanted to make sure Kokichi was alright. "Where are you going, (Y/n)?" Kaito asked. "I'm going to find Kokichi." I said. "Without eating?" Tsumugi asked. "It's fine. I'm not that hungry anyways."

      "I'm just about done eating. I'll go with you." Himiko spoke up. "I'm finished so I'll help you too." Shuichi stood up from his seat besides Kaito and Maki. "I'm coming too." Rantaro said from next to me. I nodded. "Let's go then." Then we all left the dining hall.

      "Where should we search first?" Shuichi asked. "Let's split up into teams. Me and Himiko with check the dorm areas and the rest of outside. You and Rantaro search inside the school." I said. I look at the rest of them to make sure they agreed. Everyone nodded.

      When the boys left to check the school, we heard the dining hall doors open and close. "What can we do to help?" I recognized the voice to be Kaito's. I turned around and saw Kaito standing there with Kiibo next to him.

      "I may not like him much but it's still troubling that he hasn't even come for dinner yesterday and no one has seen him." Kaito sighed. "You guys help Shuichi and Rantaro look inside the school. They went that way so you two go the other way." I told them. They left to look for Kokichi in the direction I told them to.

      "Let's go." I told Himiko, then we headed outside. "Lets go to his room first." I said. "(Y/n), since you're his sibling, do you also know how to lie and pick locks?" Himiko asked me. "Yes, I know how to lie like him and fake my emotions, even though he's better because he does it more often. I also know how to pick locks. Everyone in our group does." I answered.

      "Your group? Is it just like how Kokichi said it was like." Himiko asked me another question. I chuckled. "Well not exactly." Was all I said. I didn't want to tell her everything about them yet. Then we got to his room.

      I pulled my bag off of my back and put it on the ground and pulled a few things out. I stuck it in his door lock and jiggled it around until I head a *click*. "Wow! That's so cool! Can you teach me how to do that sometime?" Himiko asked in awe. "Sure." Was all I said before I opened the door.

      Inside his room, there was a wax effigy of Rantaro hanging upside down above his bed, a horse mask next to his bed, a stacked pile of boxes, a whiteboard near the back of his room, but no sign of Kokichi.

His room was a huge mess. Sure, my room was pretty messy, but not as messy as this.

"(Y/n)! Look at this!" Himiko, who was looking at the whiteboard, called me over. I walked over to her and looked at the whiteboard. It had a picture of everyone and his thoughts on them.

Himiko, Kaito, Kiibo, Rantaro, Maki, and Tsumugi were all grouped together. The word 'suspicious' was next to Maki's picture. The word 'idiot' was next to Kaito's picture. On the top left, there was a picture of Kaede and underneath her, Angie. It showed that Kaede had killed Angie with a shot put ball falling on her head. It showed the same thing with all of the killers and victims. There were also pictures of Monokuma and the Monocubs. On top of their pictures was the word 'annoying'. It showed my picture and underneath it, it said 'trustworthy'. Shuichi's picture was next to mine, and we were separated from the group, under his picture, it said 'trustworthy?' as if he was still wondering if he could trust him. On the far side of the whiteboard, it had a drawn on square and it said 'mastermind's accomplice?'

My eyes widened at that. The mastermind had an accomplice?! "(Y-Y/N). Look." Himiko whispered and pointed to Tsumugi's picture. In small writing, it said 'mastermind'. "No. T-there's no way. Tsumugi is the mastermind...?" I whispered to myself. I knew it was true but I didn't want it to be her.

"Let's go check somewhere else, Himiko!" I put on a fake smile. Himiko looked at me sadly and said "Yea, ok." Himiko said. She knows that Tsumugi was a close friend of mine.

Next, we went to Miu's lab. He's probably not there but we don't know for sure. When we opened the doors to her lab, he wasn't there. We checked all over the place to make sure he wasn't there. He wasn't.

Right as we left her lab, we heard a voice say "(Y-Y/N)!" We turned around and saw Shuichi breathing heavily. "What's wrong, Shuichi? Did you find Kokichi?" I said hopefully.

"No. But me and Rantaro split up to look faster and I left him in the library but when I came back, I-I found his body." Shuichi panted out.

"B-body...?" Was all I could say. "Y-Yea... I'm sorry, (Y/N)." Shuichi caught his breath now and was apologizing. I didn't say anything and ran. I have to see if this is true.

Himiko and Shuichi followed me but were far behind me as I was faster. I heard them calling for me to slow down but I only went faster. I didn't notice before but I was crying. 'Stop it.' I told myself. 'We don't know if it's true. Rantaro is probably safe.' I tried telling myself.

I got to the library before them but just stood in front of the door. 'I'm scared. What if it's actually true?' I thought. I kept fighting with myself. Part of me was telling me that he was dead, the other part of me told me that he was still alive.

I kept having those thoughts until Shuichi finally came with Himiko on his back because she was out of breath. I didn't pay any attention to them. I gathered up all my courage and opened the door.

A body has been discovered! Now then, after a certain amount of time, the class trial will begin! You may use this time however you like. Please come to the library.

     I opened the door to find the body of Rantaro Amami in a pool of blood and his face was mixed with anger and shock. I heard Himiko gasp and Shuichi say "Sorry. It's all my fault. If I didn't leave him alone, none of this would've happened.

      I fell to the floor and started sobbing. "It's not your fault. Stop always blaming yourself for everything." I cried out. I heard everyone else come. "Who died this time?" I heard Kiibo say. Then they fell quiet as they saw me crying next to Rantaro's body.

      I heard someone walk over to me and put a hand on my back. "Cry it all out, (Y/N). Remembering what Tenko told me, 'If you want to cry, then cry. It'll help. But getting mad also works! But if you want to laugh, that works too! But remember to keep your chin up and live life facing forward! Survive with me and everyone else!'. I know what you're feeling right now. You'll want to die. But you have to keep living!" Himiko said, trying to comfort me.

      I hugged her tight and sobbed hard. It hurts so much. The one I love is gone, my brother is missing, I've witnessed a lot of my classmates kill each other then die themselves. "Don't leave me too, Himiko!" I sobbed out. "I won't." Himiko said and hugged me tighter.

      I heard more footsteps and everyone gasped, even Himiko. The person pulled me gently from Himiko's grasp and when they spoke, I instantly recognized the voice.

      "Hey, (Y/N). Sorry I wasn't here to comfort you." I looked up and saw Kokichi. He was smiling gently. "(Y/N), be careful! He might be lying to you." Kaito called. From the corner of my eye, I saw Himiko give Kaito a deadly glare that said "Shut the hell up."

      I hugged him. "It's fine. All that matters is that you're alive." I told him and smiled. After a few moments to calm down, I stood up and gave everyone a reassuring smile. Surprisingly, I saw that even Maki was worried.

      "Let's investigate." I said.
