Deku's POV:

I woke up to the sound of my All Might alarm blaring, "I AM HERE!" Groaning, I dragged myself out of bed, took a quick shower, and put on my middle school uniform. Breakfast was a blur, and soon enough, I was out the door, the familiar path to Kaachan's house guiding my steps.

I knocked on his door three times before it swung open, revealing Kaachan. He gave me a once-over and called out a quick goodbye to his parents. "You're early," he muttered with a slight pout.

"Was I supposed to come later?" I asked, half-joking. He shook his head, and we began our walk to school in comfortable silence.

It was our last year, and I couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and anxiety. Despite not having a quirk, I still held onto the dream of becoming a hero, and I wanted to do it with Kaachan by my side. He never said much when I brought it up, but I could tell he didn't believe I'd make it. His concerned expression stung, but I understood.

A sudden slap on my back jolted me out of my thoughts. "Stop daydreaming, Nerd. We're here."

Before I knew it, the school year flew by, and graduation day was upon us. But with it came the doctor's visit I'd been dreading—the one where they determine if you're an omega, alpha, or beta. I had always wondered why they didn't do this test earlier, but the doctors said it was to prevent young omegas from being exploited. It made sense, but I still wished I could've known sooner, just to get it over with.

After the graduation party, everyone headed to the local doctor's office to find out their rank. Kaachan, who lived near me and went to the same doctor, tagged along. "What do you think your rank will be?" he asked, looking down at me.

"An alpha, of course," he replied confidently.

"Haha, yeah, of course," I laughed nervously, unsure how to break the awkward silence that followed.

"What about you?" he asked, his gaze piercing.

"I'm not sure," I admitted, keeping my eyes on the ground as we reached the entrance of the doctor's office.

Kaachan walked in with his usual confidence, while I shuffled in behind him, feeling out of place. The receptionist waved us over. "You boys here for a ranking check-up?"

"Yes, ma'am," Kaachan replied, and we were soon separated, each heading to our respective examination rooms.

"You can sit here on the bed," the nurse instructed. I hopped up, accidentally ripping the paper beneath me. "Sorry."

"Oh, don't worry about it," she said with a smile. "We replace it after every patient."

The doctor came in, took some blood and a urine sample, and left the room. I waited, fidgeting with my hands, until he returned with another doctor and a piece of paper.

"Izuku, right?" the new doctor asked, looking at me with a serious expression.

"Yes?"

"The results are in. You're an omega."

My heart sank. I had hoped to at least be a beta, but an omega? And a male omega at that?

The doctor seemed to sense my confusion. "It's normal to feel this way, especially since society rarely acknowledges male omegas. But they do exist—a mutation in alpha genes, some scientists believe."

"But why don't they teach us that?" I asked, frustration bubbling up.

"They're highly protected and rare. Alpha genes are considered perfect, and admitting this mutation contradicts that belief."
