38 (Back at the LR company)

I still can't believe that Red's been trying to kill me all these time.

Akala ko, magkaibigan kami. The thought of me, staying over his house for protection is scary.

What's his motive? Why would he want to kill me? May connection ba siya sa mga taong pumatay kay papa? Diba half brothers sila ni Van?

Why would he do that?

"Feeling better?" Tanong ni Van saakin. Na siyang nagpawala ng mga iniisip ko. It's the third day ever since napag alaman na nilalason ako ni Red. He's nowhere to be found. Nagpadala si Van ng mga tauhan doon sa bikol pero walang natagpuan na Red.

"Yeah, thanks Van." Sabi ko sakanya. Nakauwi na kami sa bahay. Pero kailangan ko parin magpahinga.

"Sorry." Sabi niya at niyakap ako.

"Wala ka naman kasalanan." Sabi ko sakanya.

"I handed you over to that guy. I should've known." Galit sa sariling sabi niya.

"Don't blame yourself. Kahit nga ako mismo, hindi ko inasahan na may masamang motibo pala sakin si Red." Sabi ko. He still feels so bad about the whole situation. He's not letting go of me. It's as if he's scared to lose me.

"Nakausap mo na pala si violet?" Tanong ko sakanya.

"Yeah. Sabi niya wala siyang alam. Sinabi niya lang, Red will do everything for power and money. Isn't it surprising that he's only 21 yet he is in the same level of success as your father? Who knows how he got there." Ani Van.

"I wonder why he really did it. Half brother mo siya diba? You must know something about him." I said. It's really sad how I considered him as a friend tapos malalaman ko na may masamang intensyon pala siya saakin. Napakunot na lamang ang noo ni Van.

"We didn't really grow up together since our family was a mess. He grew up with violet so she knows him better. I don't know much about him." Ani Van na para bang nag iisip.

"I just can't believe it. Akala ko totoo ang pagkakaibigan namin." Malungkot na sabi ko. Nagbuntong hininga na lamang si Van.

"Ang importante, tumigil na ang mastermind since they got even with your Dad. Although, it cost him his life. Pero ganon talaga sa illegal business world. An eye for an eye." Malungkot na sabi ni Van.

"He must've known the moment he decided to do that illegal business. He's just too blinded with money. But I can't help but feel sad because hindi man lang kami nagkaayos." Naiiyak na sabi ko sakanya.

I felt his thumb wipe my tear.

"Atleast in the end, he managed to end everything and protect his family. Besides, he was the one who started the problem and it even put his family into danger. Honestly, may parte saakin na nagagalit rin sakanya dahil pati yung nanay ko nadamay sa death threats and of course, ikaw. I was so mad because he put you in danger." Sabi niya while holding the corners of my face. Ipinatong ko ang mga palad ko sa mga kamay niya.

"I know that you don't want me to worry. But I hope that you will tell me more of your problems from now on. I don't want you to deal with it alone especially when it involves me too." Ani ko sakanya. A sad smile crossed my face.

"I promise." He whispered before placing a kiss on my lips.

Few days later, everything went back to normal. Me, back at Van's office doing some hell work again.

Sandamakmak nanamang papel ang ipina review niya saakin. He's just there on his usual desk, busy with his laptop with a hot strong black coffee. He's busier than usual dahil siya na ang CEO ng company.
