You were awoken at a crisp 8:30 by your blaring alarm clock; ugh work. You didn’t remember when or how you fell asleep; you just knew it had been late. You rolled out of bed and began getting ready for your eight hour shift at your dead end retail job. It wasn’t that bad, I mean you made decent money and it could be a lot worst. You grabbed a quick breakfast and went out the door.

You arrived right on time, just like usual, and unlocked the door for business. You were hoping today would be one of those days that went by insanely fast, you still weren’t over what happen with Luke.  It wasn’t one of those days of course, it went by painfully slow if anything. You were the only one working and hardly anyone came in, meaning there was nothing to do but babysit the counter pretty much.

A gruesome eight hours later your shift ended, and you headed home for the day. You decided to pick up something on your way home because you were to lazy to cook, nor did you have the energy to make an effort.

You got home and ate your fast food and watched TV until it was time to get ready for bed. You still hadn’t heard from Luke and you cried about missing him till you fell asleep. This is basically how the next two weeks went. Work, home, crying about not hearing from Luke, and the occasional visit or text from John; you were in a never ending rut without Luke. You missed him so much and you felt like a piece of you was missing. You knew you were in love with him, but he was your world and now he was gone. You weren’t living anymore you were basically existing.

Finally you left work early Friday and headed home to get ready, tonight was the concert with John. Things had been going well for you two, and although you didn’t love him the way you had loved Luke you did care about him, he was so good to you how could you not?

You put on your new outfit and did your hair and makeup; this was the best you had looked since Luke left. You were okay; at least that’s what you kept telling yourself.

John showed up right on time and you two made your way to the venue; it was at an arena and you had front row tickets, it was exciting.  You pulled into the parking lot and made your way inside to get in the correct line for your seats, they hadn’t started letting people in just yet.

Outside the arena they were selling all kinds of snacks and your stomach growled. You left John’s side to buy a snack; you had a hotdog in mind. As you got into line and you got closer to the front the smell went from yummy to nasty; it turned your stomach. You ran to the bathroom and emptied out whatever was in your stomach, which wasn’t much. You passed off the incident as nothing and went back to John’s side.

“Where’s your snack?” he looked down at you.

“Oh, I changed my mind they didn’t look as good as they smelled.”

“Oh, alright,” he smiled

They finally started letting people in the venue and you two found your seats; they were probably some of the best seats in the house. The concert started shortly after that, and although your thoughts went to Luke a lot you still had a really good time with John.

They finished off the show with an encore and you and John made your way back to your apartment.  Once you arrived he got out and walked you to your door. After you unlocked it you turned to kiss him bye and head inside but he stopped you. “Sarah, there’s something I need to tell you.” You got nervous “I love you, and I think I’m in love with you too, you’re perfect,” he smiled at you. Crap, your stomach began to twist in knots again and you felt like you were going to be sick to your stomach again. You ran inside and slammed the door behind you as you entered the bathroom and threw up stomach acid. You layed on the bathroom floor, the cold of the tiles felt good. A minute or two later there was a knock on the door.

“Sarah, are you okay?” it was john of course.

“Yeah,I’ll be out in a second.”

“Alright”

You looked at yourself in the mirror before heading out; he sat on your bed waiting for you. He looked sad, like a puppy.

“Did you get sick…because of what I said?” You felt horrible for that.

“No! Of course not, I think I’m sick or something. I got sick at the venue too.”  You sat down on the bed next to him. Relief flooded his face.

“So… do you love me back?” he turned to look at you.

“Yes,” you blurted it out, it tasted badly on your lounge.

He pulled you into a hug “I’m so glad.”

You guys talked for a while longer before you fake yawned and said you were tired and didn’t feel good, so you left so you could rest.

You got ready for bed and turned off your alarm clock, for once you had the day off tomorrow. You laid there thinking about the night and everything that had happen, you weren’t sure why you had thrown up, but you couldn’t be sick right now, there wasn’t time to be sick.  Then it hit you, you were supposed to get your period last week and still nothing, you had been late before but by now you would normally be at least showing period symptoms.  That’s when it hit you, the fact that you may be pregnant, and you had no idea who the father was. You knew you would get a test from the store first thing tomorrow, you were probably overreacting and knew you would feel better once you saw negative test, at least you hoped it would be negative.

What would you do if it wasn’t negative?
