You hated the unwanted stares of so many people. Whispers here and there, your beauty attracted jealousy from the girls. You felt trapped inside your own body as if it was a prison. You want to live a normal life but your wish wasn't granted. You are born in an aristocratic family who had connections with the normal people and vampires. Being the next heir to your dad's successful businesses, it gave you pressure to not disappoint him. Of course, you needed to marry someone from an aristocratic family as well, whether it be humans or vampires; however, your mother thought otherwise.
She wanted you to marry whoever you wanted to spend your life with, regardless if they were poor or rich. Your happiness is your mom's top priority aside from her husband's. "You need to get ready now." Your mom says, gently caressing your hair. "Yes Mom." You get up from the chair before heading inside the closet. A ball is to be held for you to select a suitable partner for your hand in marriage, something you didn't think that would come so soon. You scan through the hundreds of dresses in your closet, unable to pick which outfit. "I believe red is a beautiful color. Don't you think so, honey?" Your mom says, picking out a red dress.
"Thanks Mom." You take the dress from her hands before changing into them. "My beautiful daughter." Your mom praises, her lips curling upwards. "Can I not go, Mom?" You say, looking at your appearance at the mirror. "I can let you do whatever you want to do, baby. But you know your father..." She sighs, combing your hair into a neat bun. "Come. Let's go now." Your mom holds out her hand. You take her hand as she leads you outside the room.
"Ah! There's my daughter!" Your dad says as he spots you. "You look so beautiful. These young men will definitely fall for you." He says as he press a kiss onto your forehead. "I have selected twelve of them. Sakamaki, Mukami, and Tsukinami. A fine choice, eh?" Your dad chuckles before escorting the both of you to the venue. "Dad prepared a little of something... Ever since you were little, you enjoyed looking at people dancing. I invited a popular idol to perform for you." Your father winks at you. With the stomp of his cane, the front doors open with a parade of people.
In the center of the parade were the twelve men your father had selected. After they had taken their seats, Kou stood in the middle of the venue, the spotlight now on him. He sings and dances, capturing your attention. "Dad." You whisper. "Yes, darling?"
"Is he one of the candidates?"
"No."
"Why not?"
"He's an idol."
"What's wrong with being an idol?" You ask, wondering why your father is so against it. "Tell me, darling. When will he have the time for you when his schedule is packed? I don't want my daughter to have a husband that makes her feel lonely." Your father explains. "But what about them?" You point at the twelve men. "Won't they be immersed in their work that they'll have no time to be with me?" Your father pats your head. "Don't you worry. These men have jobs that do not require them to be at work 24/7."
After a Kou finishes performing, your father brought you to the twelve men and introduces you. "This is my daughter (First Name) (Last Name)." You curtsy before looking at them. "I will leave you all to get acquainted. Now, excuse me." Your father leaves your side. It was as if leaving you to a pack of hungry wolves. The twelve introduced themselves but you paid no attention to them, despite replying to their questions once in a while. You were eyeing Kou from afar. He was sitting alone at the table with a slice of cake on his plate. You excused yourself from the twelve and walked towards Kou.
"Hi. I'm (First Name)." You curtsy. He eyes you up and down before rolling his eyes. "You know who I am." He says. "That's rude." You say, taking a seat in front of him. "You, aristocrats are worse. All you think about is money and power. That's really disgusting." You gave him a smile and said, "Would you like to run away with me then?" Kou looks at you as if you were crazy. "Hah? Are you nuts?" You shook your head. "I don't want this life. I may have the riches but I hate it. All the gossips from the girls and constant staring from men... it's tiring."
"Why are you telling me this? It's not like I can make them go away for you." Kou says, glancing at the table where the twelve men were conversing. "Nothing... I just feel relieved that I told someone about it." You give him a smile. "(First Name) darling! Come here." Your father calls from the distance. "Well, I better go now. It was nice talking to you." You curtsy again before leaving. Kou looks at your retreating form with a sad gaze. "We're just the same after all."
