The successive morning, after a long day of preparations for the wedding anniversary was made. Fredrick had the responsibility of letting the guests know the situation on the ground, while I had things under control at home. It was mandatory that the guests knew about mom's illness because we wouldn't want anyone coming out and accidentally spilling the truth to mom.
Sophia brought mom to her anniversary celebration, and before then, her only request had been to talk with dad. Sophia had managed to control the situation, but for how long would we be able to cover up the truth?
"Wow! You're looking beautiful, mom." I kissed her on the forehead and slowly walked with her to her chair.
"Thanks, but have you spoken to your father?" She asked about dad again and threatened not to start the wedding anniversary without him.
Fredrick arrived and was able to savage the situation, and despite the many ideas he had, he thought of just one thing.
"Mom! I'd like to propose something to you." He made a dramatic pause before continuing to speak.
"What do you have in mind?" He attained mom's attention, and so was mine, nestled in his grip.
"Marriage; Chris's marriage to his girlfriend, Yulan, while I get married to Sophia." He announced such an abomination.
In as much as I wanted to spill the entire truth to my mom, the thought of being the son who selfishly sent his mom back to a coma compelled me to stay quiet and not do anything against my brother.
A few of mom's old pals came, and just as they took mom out of her chair so they could all catch up, I grabbed Fredrick to the corner and demanded he have a rethink of his outrageous request.
"What have you done!?" I asked him, my mind and heart racing back and forth.
"I don't know? Do you mean when I asked mom to set your wedding and mine together?" He wiggled his eyebrows at me, and that showed me how much of a hypocrite my brother could be.
"Bro, I don't want to marry Yulan, and why should you get married to Sophia?" I questioned his intentions, which triggered an uproar response from him.
"Why shouldn't I get married to her, she's my wife?" He placed an unruly right on Sophia, perhaps he doesn't remember when he had her humiliated, divorced, and for myself? I was almost killed by his lunatic mistress.
Shortly after, the news reporters arrived, and everyone wanted to know how mom had come back from the dead.
I had specifically asked my brother not to involve the reporters because one of them might say something to mom about my dad.
The anniversary was proceeding smoothly, but then one of the guests we had invited to speak to my mom forgot to offer any meaningful words and instead began questioning my brother's character and his past involvement with his ex-mistress.
Well, she couldn't speak too much about it because Fredrick and I stylishly had to knock her unconscious; it was for our safety and that of our mom.
After the party, mom called for a family meeting. I think what she wants to say will once again be related to dad, but her response makes me shudder in fear.
"Fredrick and Chris...... You both would be getting married to your ladies the same day"
She took a dramatic pause, and that made me almost want to pluck her hair out."What!" I wanted to fight against it when Frederick stopped me from finishing my statement.
"Thank you, mom, we accept." He said and grinned back at me with those evil eyes of his.
I could not believe that he had finally gotten what he had asked for, and while I struggled to control my emotions, I also had to bear the tension and annoyance of seeing my brother once again with the woman I love, talk less of getting married again to her.
