The next morning. I woke up grinning. I came down for breakfast, and everyone all turned to see the grin on my face.

Frederick rested his back on the chair's head and wanted to know what made me smile this way.
If only he knew.
I sat next to him, and right after, Sophia came down in a hurry.
She looked kinda disturbed.

Mom called her into the dining area and asked if everything was okay.
Sophia, however, said there was an emergency at the company

While talking, she gave me a sign.
Mom let her go, and afterward, I followed behind.
Sophia was just about to leave when I hit on the window of her car.
She wound down the window to see me.
" Chris, I have to go settle some issues at the company; it seems most of the investors are withdrawing their funds,".
She looked disheartened.

I got her out of the car, and we hugged.
" Calm down, Sophia; everything will be fine,".
I said.

She smiled at me and got back into her car, and I watched her drive away.

I had no idea Mom saw what happened. Frederick came outside and pushed me back.

"We need to talk."
He looked prudent.

I asked why, and he said he had a strange assumption that Mom might have regained her memories.

I refused to believe him.
Frederick suggested we put her to a test, just to confirm.

I asked what kind of test, and he told me not to worry and left.

It's absurd that Mom has regained her memories within a short period.
And what exactly does Fredrick have in mind to find out the truth?
He might ask me not to worry; however, I should bother him. My brother has a way of going overboard.

I ran back in. Frederick walked into his room, and he looked wary going in.
I looked back at the dining table, and Mom wasn't there anymore; she must have gone to her bedroom.
I turned around to go meet her when she walked out wearing the scarf Dad bought.
It seemed she was heading out.

"Mom, do you have someplace to go?"
I walked before her.
She looked perplexed seeing me; it almost gave me the idea that Fredrick might be right about her.

Mom said she had some important work to do and fled the moment Mr. Richard, the driver, came out with the car.
I watched her get in.
Fredrick ran downstairs after she left and asked about her whereabouts.
I shook my head, having no clue. I walked up to my bedroom and slammed the doors...

A few hours later, Mom came back home.
She walked in looking sad. I went downstairs and found her soliloquizing to herself.

Her eyes lift and find me staring disdainfully at her.
Mom cleared her throat and recited a long sermon about what happened.

I don't think she's telling the truth.

She left and looked anxious, going to her bedroom.
Sophia came in right after; she looked exhausted and dropped right into my arms.

"Chris, I don't feel like walking anymore,".
She complained.

"So, should I carry you to your room?"
I grinned.

"Yes, please, that will be nice and romantic,".
She nods.

I pulled her up from the ground and carried her into her bedroom.
On our way, we had no idea Mom saw all that from her room.

I slammed the doors and dropped her on the bed. I turned around to leave, and she made a sound like she was in pain.
" Hey, what happened?"
I fell to my knees.

She laughed and said she would love to have a bubble bath.
"Please go prepare a bubble bath for me,".
She wiggles her eyebrows at me.
