1. Through the smouldering homesteads and ranting mobs, the banished queen Ilaria took to the helm once more in commanding her band of misfits as Julian the bronze giant plodded across the realm to what was left of the royal capital. The sky had remained a rose blood-red since Ilaria and her friends had been banished to the underworld by the Devil after king Vico made a deal with the wrong individual. Windows were blown out, ash-covered almost everything in sight, and people ran sporadically through the streets of the old town to anywhere that was not on fire.

A large group of village lunatics blocked the path of Julian towards the royal palace, shouting and jeering at the giant to release his captives for primal slaughter by their hand. When Julian lowered Ilaria to the street, the crowd recognized her as their beloved queen and rightful ruler of the realm. The pacification of the angry mob ensured no harm came to the passing group thus far as they progressed toward the royal palace through the Piazza square. The mobs recognized their former king Vico as well but did not dare give him the time of day as they had to his more relatable sister.
