New Dawn In the Woods

Chapter 16

There was ruckus going downstairs that caused me to groan and then get up. I grab my designer silk robe and walk down the stairs. I see everyone hustling around. I see Celina trying to calm down two screaming babies. I walk over to her.

“Here let me take her.” I offered. She looked up and gladly handed me River while she was trying to find Nolan. 

“CeCe come on to my room, it's quiet up there.” she nodded her in response. She trailed me as we went to my room. I heard her sigh as I closed the door behind her.

“You are a lifesaver Ro.”

“Yeah what’s going on?”

“Oh um every since two am this morning, hunters have been on our borders. Sebastian is working on alliances with the other two packs.” then she gave the look like she wasn’t supposed to say anything. 

“What?!” I yell 

“Right I wasn’t supposed to tell you knowing you would freak out.”

“Where are the hunters?” I say trying to calm down but it’s not working.

“Uh..”

“Celina where are they?” yep failed to maintain my composure

“South border, where Sebastian is meeting with the other Alphas.'' Before she could say anything more, I jumped out my window and mid air shift. My paws land on my ground and dart off to the south border. As I near it, the smell of humans hit me.  I’m close. I slow to a walk and sneak up to them. Once I had them in sight, I realized what they were going to do. Sebastian and the Alphas are meeting here. Their scents fill my nostrils. I creep up behind them. The girl turns around and screams alerting the other hunters and the Alphas with Sebastian. He finds me. I lunge at the guy who is coming towards me. I jumped on him and knocked him and tore his head off. I felt a sting in my side and saw a bullet hole. It just fueled my anger even more. I charged at the second hunter and tore his head. I take on the two females who were crying over their boyfriends dead bodies. I took them down. My side is on fire. I smell another hunter. I follow the smell up a tree. I look up and see another hunter. I see the gun in his hand and silver bullets. He shot me. I jumped up and bit his foot and pulled him down. I dug into him, by the time I was done killing the ambush on my mate I was covered in blood. Sebastian walks over to examine me. 

“Why? What are you doing here?” he asked.

“I came because you left without me. I’m the Alpha of the pack not you.” I yelled when I finished shifting and put on clothes. 

“And go thing I came because these hunters were playing to attack you.” I whined in pain gripping my side.

“You're hurt.” 

“I’m… I’m fine” I said trying to walk off. But the pain in my side was too great, I fell down.

“Wait, so Sebastian isn’t the Alpha?” one Alpha asked

“No I am. Yes I know I’m a girl but I just saved your lives.” I said whining in pain. 

“Thank you and we will be honored to make an alliance with you…”

“Rosie Jaeger” 

“Rosie” we shook hands and I was losing consciousness from blood loss. 

“Sorry gentlemen but I have to take her to the hospital.” Sebby said

“Well let us join you, we are curious to see what a female has been doing to a pack.”

They took off. It felt like hours of running. I wasn’t feeling that well. I was losing blood. I heard Layton come out and grabbed me. I couldn’t hear them like I was under water. My sight was blurry. I didn’t feel pain. Actually I didn’t feel anything. I was on a cloud. I see Sebby standing over me. His lips were moving but I couldn’t hear. I couldn’t talk. The words got caught in my throat. I’m so tired. I started closing my eyes but Sebby was tapping my face and gently shaking me. I fought to keep my eyes open but I closed them anyway.

I hearing beeping. I slowly open my eyes to adjust to bright sunlight shining through the window. Once my eyes are adjusted, I’m in a hospital again. I have to stop coming here. I get off the bed and stand. I winced in pain. I walk to the mirror and put up my shirt to see a bandage. I take a deep breath and remove it. I see a bullet hole that’s slowly healing. I’m not surprised. Silver bullets hurt werewolves. It will take at least a week to heal. It probably will scar. I hear footsteps come to the door. It opens and see Layton enter.

“What are you doing out of bed Ro?” 

“Uh… just looking at my bullet hole.”

“Ah… well get back on the bed little Ro”

“Fine fine.”

“How do you feel?”

“I feel fine. I feel stronger than I did before.” I just sitting on the bed

“Well you have to stay here for twenty-four hours.”

“What?” I exclaimed

“Yes.”

“No.”

“Yes.”

“No” I just got off the bed and went to the bathroom to change my clothes.

“Don’t make me use my Alpha tone on you Layton. You are family.” I said half joking

“Ugh fine. Your parents and I were never successful at trying to break your stubbornness. I’ll go sign you out.” he sighed in defeat.

“Yay. Thank you Uncle.” I pulled him into a hug.

“Your welcome.” he let go of me and left the room.

I walked over to the window. I soaked in the sunlight. A few minutes later, my uncle came in and said I’m free to go. I nodded thank you and left. I never really like hospitals since both my parents died here. I walked down the halls to the exit. I head out the doors and start my jog to the pack house. I show up at the house and see that there is no one around. I head inside and see that everyone is here. The Alphas are still here. I guess they signed the alliance with me. They all look at me when I walk in. 

“Hey you are okay, thank god” Celina said, pulling me in a hug. I yelped in pain because she applied pressure on my wound.

“Oh sorry.”

“It’s fine.” I said

“Rosie!” the twins said together. I braced myself. They jumped in my arms and I lifted them up into a hug. My side was screaming at me but I didn’t care.

“You have to stop hurting yourself Ro, we need you.” Spencer said crying as I set them on the floor.

“Oh I’m sorry Spen. I will not get hurt anymore. I’m just trying to protect you and our home and family.” The pack is family. They knew that too. I wiped her tears away. I hugged her again. The Alphas approached me.

“We thank you for saving our lives. I guess females are just as good as males.”

“You don’t have to. Do you want to join us for dinner? I think having allies around here.” I said still holding out my siblings

“We would love to.” I nodded in their response

I made dinner for the whole pack. Celina helped me. Spencer set the table. I called everyone to the table and we ate. We laughed and joked around. Celina left to put the babies to bed and she went to bed. I put the twins to bed even though they are twelve years old. I tucked them in. I have to start being their sister again. I said goodnight to everyone. I glared at Sebastian. I went to my room and changed. I crawled into bed only to be woken up by my door opening and closing. I smell that it is Spencer. She snuggled close to me and fell asleep. I turn over and pull her into my arms. I succumbed to the darkness.
