42 DAYS AFTER PRAIMFAYA

PUSHING ON THE RUBBLE, Falo and Clarke emerged from the ruined lab. They were both covered in radiation burns from the Praimfaya, but they were somewhat healed now, and the sun really damaged their burns more so because it made them feel like the burns were on fire.

But they were actually alive. They made it to another day. When they woke up days ago in the lab, Falo didn't think either of them were going to survive another day, yet they did which was a miracle in Falo's and Clarke's eyes.

Falo gazed at the barren wasteland. They seemed to be the only ones left other than the ones in space and the ones in the bunker. Falo didn't like that.

Pulling the scarf closer to her face, Falo helped Clarke get down from the top and Clarke did the same. They almost tripped a couple times from all of the rock and such, but they made it to the ground in no time.

Clarke pulled out her map, looking it over. "Two-hundred-and-ten miles to Polis," she closed the map and looked at Falo who seemed upset they had to walk. "Hey, at least we don't have to swim. We got this. . ."

"Sure." Falo whispered.

THEY FOUND THE ROVER AND GOT IT WORK. They headed towards Polis after a few days of sleeping in the rover at night and driving the rover at daylight. It was pretty boring at times, but they kept each other sane by getting to know each other or by jamming out to music.

When they reached Polis, Falo was distraught. Polis was not Polis anymore, it was a ruin. The entire tower crashed down on top of the bunker and the surrounding buildings crumbled with it. There was nothing left of the place Falo called her home. Nothing.

The two women placed their feet on the ground and started to walk towards where the bunker would be. Falo jumped up on the stone, before she helped Clarke up. They looked around to realize that most of the ruin was on top of the bunker.

Of course, she thought.

Day and night, they tried and tried to get the stone off the bunker. It was a ton of frustrating work, but at some point, they managed to get themselves an opening. Clarke got inside the hole and threw out rocks as Falo used a crowbar to make another hole for them.

Clarke grabbed rock and pounded it on the hatch to the bunker. "Mom! I'm here! We're here!"

Nothing.
