Where It Stands

Before we started down the PCH my Morgan and I had lunch in a microbrewery in Fort Bragg. We were sort of sorry we did not add a day here, because it was tempting to drink lovely microbrew beer more than advisable. Then celebrate in a hotel. Mission accomplished!

Despite playing with the car, Morgan also was on the lookout. She found a spot for us to pull over, and we hiked to the top of a bluff. It was windy as all hell, but the Pacific Ocean is amazing. We looked out over it for a while, but that is not why we stopped. Celebrations are in order. We went up into some nearby trees and indulged in one of Morgan's favorite things: Sex in the outdoors.

OK, sure. I love it too. It is not only that I am getting laid: It makes Morgan happy, and Morgan being happy makes me happy. I am glad the thing that makes her happy is not knitting or something like that. I would still indulge her sitting in trees knitting if that was her thing, even if I would read a book and just look up at her face from time to time.

Sex is better than knitting, in my opinion. Morgan agrees. It is a mutual interest. I have always known women like sex every bit as much as men. Intellectually. Even as I often felt like I was being selfish wanting or asking for it. Never an issue now. Vampires are so amped up in that area now I have the opposite issue. Given what I know about Morgan's past, she has always been interested. I kind of wish I knew her in that way when we were both human, just out of curiosity. I am sure that this is better.

Morgan's phone rang, and she pulled it out of the pile of clothes. "Damn it... I was ready to go again... So are you. I love that in a husband."

Morgan sat up on me and looked at the phone. This being on top of me, sexually engaged, and talking on the phone thing is starting to be a habit. "Oh." Morgan said in a tone of voice that let me know it was not a salesperson, and she answered, "This is Morgan."

I settled myself deeper, to remind her what the original plan was. She squeezed back her acknowledgment.

I heard Hannah's accusatory voice. "I looked you up on the Internet, Morgan Olsen. My still alive father's partner. You seem to have not changed your ways very much."

"I am not quite sure that I follow that." Morgan said. I did not either. The town was accusing. Her words showed she understood the truth.

"You mentioned to me the article about how you left Houston. I read it. Several times. I looked it up. Found more gory details. Righteous shoot, as you said. You undersold that by a mile, according to what I found. Half the police department relieved, half wanted to hang you, and the city wanted to throw you a damn parade. Skipping past that bit of understatement: You did not mention that since you went Private you have taken down corrupt Doctors and Cops. Helped people that were framed, also Cops. You work with this Lawyer, Dan Sagan. There is one article here that said the DA dropped the charges against this Cop just KNOWING you and this lawyer took the case."

"Yes. Don is Adrian's brother. How I met Adrian." Morgan admitted.

"You did not mention any of this." Hannah sounded offended somehow.

"Of course not, Hannah. I was there to tell you about your father being alive, not something I did. My only point in giving you any background about me was to establish to you how I know your father. That I am not a random person appearing at your door. Why would I tell you about unrelated cases in Austin, or how I fell in love with Adrian? Sam was not involved in that. In fact, as you have now read, I left Houston because of that situation and started over. Sam only recently came back into my life."

"No: I get that. At the same time, it might be a character reference about you, perhaps? You think maybe? Lady shows up at door with a story. I have never met said lady. Knowing this about the woman may have lent some further weight to the lady's story about my father?" Hannah pointed out.
