Chapter Seven : Friends
My first day working for Sebastian of course had to end in me crying. I don't understand why this woman doesn't like me? I have been nothing but nice to everyone and this is how she treats me??
I had been sitting where Sebastian told me to, answering calls and writing down their messages for him. I even tidied the top of his desk, being careful not to misplace anything that may be of importance.
I wanted to make a good impression, kill it as my mother would say.
It was another twenty minutes before Sebastian entered the room, I could hear yelling through the walls but they were barely audible so I couldn't figure out what the muffles were saying.
"I'm sorry about that, Rosalie." Sebastian was the first to speak after closing the door to his small office.
"It's not your fault." I say before standing up to give him back his chair.
"No, you sit. The chair probably likes you a lot better than me." I cant help but blush at his words.
He moved across the room and leaned against the large black desk.
"Althea really had no right coming in here and saying those things to you." He said, not looking at me once. I could tell by his body language that he was angry.
"What else did she say?" He asked.
"She didn't like my outfit." I laughed, "it isn't appropriate."
He scoffed. "I happen to think you look very nice."
"Thank you." I smile.
"Don't worry about her, she doesn't know what she's going on about most of the time." He tells me. "She's just an old bat with old boring morals."
He really is lovely, Sebastian. He's being nothing but kind to me since I arrived here. He became my friend, gave me a job and continues to comfort me with his words.
"If she keeps going like that, she's going to have no one on her side." I tell him which is true. She isn't the most loved person in this hotel.
"I agree." He said with a nod. "Now let me see those notes of yours."
——
The two weeks went by fast and Sebastian's assistant was back in town. I was finally able to meet her. She was so very kind. Might've been in her early thirties.
She had told me all about her trip to France for her and her husbands 10th anniversary.
"I'm surprised you were able to stand him, i've been here the same amount of time Sebastian has and he is a real pain in my buttocks." Maddie laughed, her hand touching my shoulder as she looked at Sebastian.
Sebastian and I had a lot of fun during our two weeks together. Althea backed off and I was actually able to enjoy being his assistant. I followed him around like a lost puppy, writing down messages and notes all day. Even did the coffee runs occasionally.
"Hey, it's not my fault you act like you're my mother." He laughed.
"Well if you didn't act like my six year old son, I wouldn't have to!" She said.
"I do not." He pouted.
He definitely acted like her six year old son.
"They get along well because they're obviously in love." Eddie said from the corner of the room. He always sat in the corner of rooms i've noticed.
Maddie turned to face me with a big smile on her face.
"We only just met not long ago!" I say, shutting down Eddie's comment.
"Yeah." Sebastian agreed while turning away from me.
"Come on, Love. Join me on the coffee run?" Maddie asked and I agreed, leaving the two bickering boys to themselves.
We walked out of the hotel and down the ended of the street to the local gas station.
"I can tell that he likes you." She said with a laugh. "He's looks at you differently, i've never seen him look at someone with so much.." She paused to put two coffee cups underneath the coffee maker.
"So much interest."
"Interest?" My head cocked to the side the slightest bit as she handed me the two coffees to hold before making another two.
"Yes, dear. You are a very interesting girl. Intriguing in a way." Her telling me this made me feel fluffy inside, I might as well melt with these hot beverages.
"I may have only known you for an hour but I can definitely see that you like him to." She said. "Not necessarily like but you two are definitely very interested in each other."
"He's a really lovely guy. Has been nothing but helpful since I got here." I told her. "He stuck up for me against Althea."
"I hope he did, that lady has a nasty attitude. I'll give her a piece of my mind again if she comes at you." Again?
"Thank you, Maddie." I laugh as we walk together back to the hotel. She really is nice and I can definitely see her and I becoming good friends!
Once we got back, I handed Sebastian his coffee before moving to the side to sit in the seat near Eddie. Sebastian and Maddie had to get some things done quickly but Eddie and I were instructed to wait in the office.
"Why do you always sit in corners?" I asked Eddie.
"Why are you so nosey?" He teased. "I like to be able to see the whole room. From corners, it's a better perspective I say."
"Interesting." I said while nodding my head. Well it's good to know the reason he shoves himself in corners.
"Sebastian, he's not a bad guy. He's too good actually, he's an angel compared to any other man out there." Eddie explained.
I agree with him. Seb is an angel in disguise, he's charming, he's kind and he's very fine looking. He is practically a Disney prince.
"I know." I smile with a nod.
"So if you hurt his heart, I will have to hurt you. Well I won't, but i'll get someone to." Eddie's face was serious but I couldn't help but snicker at the thought of him giving me a threatening talk.
"I wouldn't think about it. Plus, we're only friends."
"Yeah, friends." His eyes rolled. This boy has a bad attitude.
"Do you do anything besides sitting in Sebastian's office all day or do you have a life?" He asked.
"Why are you being so nosey?" I laughed. "I have a life, just not in the past couple weeks." I truthfully say.
"I can't imagine why you'd want to be here twenty-four-seven. Surely it gets tiring." He assumed.
He's right in some ways, living here plus working when I can get the chance is hard. It's like i'm breathing the hotel and if I was to leave, I wouldn't survive.
"Get out more, don't be stuck here." He said, his eyes fluttering shut and ending the conversation.
I don't want to be stuck here.
