Chapter Twenty : Marry Me
"Take the job, Sebastian. You deserve the position." I tell him, tears spilling down my pink cheeks.
He was going to leave me.
He found that opportunity and he's going to take it. Just like he told me on his couch that one night. I knew it was coming, I just didn't know when.
"Tell me to stay, Rosalie. Tell me to stay and I will. I won't go, I'll turn it down." I couldn't look at him, I didn't want him to see me like this.
I couldn't and I wouldn't tell him that. He has been put in an incredible position and if he doesn't take it, he would surely regret it.
"I can't do that, Seb. I refuse to be the one that holds you back."
——
"You knew and you let me go through that? I could've been prepared better for it." I said to my father, I knew that Maddie knew as well and I was just as upset with her.
Why was I kept out of the loop for so long?
"Rosalie, you've got to understand. It was none of business to tell you. Sebastian wanted to tell you himself." I was heartbroken, he waited until the last possible moment to tell me?
Sunday night he had texted me saying that he took the job and that he would be leaving in a short few days.
I wanted to be mad at him, I wanted to scream but how could I? He's worked so hard for something like that, my only choice was to be happy for him.
"He's waiting downstairs, I'll see you later." A flash of guilt spread over my father's eyes as I turned to walk downstairs.
Once I had gotten downstairs, Sebastian stood in the lobby with all our friends. Telling Eddie and Dem the good but bad news.
They looked devastated.
Maddie looked at me, mouthing a sorry before Sebastian's hand fell into mine.
"Hey baby, let's get out of here?" He asked and I nodded my head. Wanting to savour every moment left I had with him, who knows when I would see him again.
We walked towards the garden, sitting down on the bench that we often found ourselves sitting at.
"So I took it." He said,
"I know, you told me. I'm happy for you." I tried my best to smile at him.
"What does this mean for us?"
"I don't want to end it here, but you know how I feel." He said. I nodded my head.
"Marry me." He said, my heart skipping a few beats.
"What?" I laughed.
"I'm serious, I don't have a ring right now. But I'll get you the prettiest one out there. Just say yes." He said, turning his body slightly to look fully at me.
"You're crazy." He's crazy.
"Marry me, Rosalie."
"I'm not going to marry you Seb, why are you asking me right now? Right when you're about to leave me." Great, here comes the waterworks again.
"Flower, you'll be mine forever if you marry me. We'll settle down, i'll buy you a house. We'll have three kids, I'll do it all for you." He said all the things I so badly wanted to hear.
"Seb, I love you. You said it yourself, you can't see yourself settling down. Yet you're here asking me and saying things that you can't promise. Your home will forever be the world, not just one place." I said, pressing my forehead to his.
He sighed, a single tear falling from his eye. I pressed my lips to it, kissing the salty tear from his face. I had never seen him cry, not a single drop before.
"I love you."
"I love you, always." He replied back, our lips meeting. The kiss was hungry and as if we were never going to get to do this again.
——
Today was the day. Today the love of my life was going to leave me. The day that we would no longer be a thing.
We would still keep in contact but we all know how hard that would be. Just to be friends.
"Sebastian, on behalf of myself and the team. It's be an absolute pleasure to have you on our side and for all you've done with this hotel." My father said, everyone was practically lining up to say their goodbyes.
Almost like he was never going to come back.
"Thank you, sir." He smiled
"Hope you'll have a room for me over there." Eddie said with a laugh.
"Of course, you're always welcome where I am bud."
Both Maddie and Dem were in tears, saying their goodbyes to the one they had gotten so close to.
I watched him go through each one, giving them a long hug.
"Good luck, Lake." Althea said with a nod.
"Thanks." Seb smiled, giving her knuckles.
And then it was my turn. I wish I hadn't looked at him, I was already a mess.
"My flower." He said, tears in his eyes. Without a word, I wrapped my arms around his body and hugged him hard.
I wanted to so badly to tell him to stay, tell him not to go. Tell him that I needed him.
"I love you so fucking much." He said which made me cry harder.
"I hate seeing you like this, please don't cry for me." He said, kissing my lips. Our kiss tasted salty.
"I love you so much Sebastian." It felt like our kiss was going to last forever before he pulled away from me.
"Go upstairs, baby. I don't want you to watch me leave." He said. "I love you, please go." He said, he was so trying to be strong in front of his workmates but I knew he wanted to break down.
"Okay.." I didn't want to watch it either.
"Come on, love. I'll go with you." Maddie said, Dem agreeing with her as they both wiped their tears.
"I love you." I said while turning away from him with my friends. I walked to the elevator, pressing the button for the floor that we lived in.
"I love you." Sebastian mouthed before the the doors shut.
I waved to him before completing breaking down to my best friends. I felt broken, like he's taken a piece of me with him.
"It's okay, Rose. You two will be together again in no time." Demeter said as they both hugged me.
I really think this would be the last of Sebastian Lake I would see again.
"I know you will." Maddie added.
