Chapter Four : Wasting Time
"Rose, my dear. There's a job opening as an assistant for one of our managers. We're in interested?" My father asked
Of course I was! I'd love to be Sebastian's assistant. Getting more time to spend with him would be great!
"Yes, I'd love to. It's getting boring around here having nothing to do." I told my father.
"Great, Althea is looking for one. I told her I would recommend you, she thought it was a grand idea."
Althea, is it too late to say no??
"Great, your trial starts now. Head downstairs, tell her I sent you." I sigh but do as I was told, I wish it was going to be assisting mr hunk.
Once I made it to the lobby, I walked straight to the offices behind the front lobby desk.
Knocking on the door, Althea sat behind her desk. Her face basically buried in paperwork.
"Ah, Miss Rosalie. I was told to expect you some time today. Ready for your trial?" She says while gesturing for me to walk in.
"Now, just because you are Mr Fogales daughter does not mean I am going to take it easy on you or even choose you because you are the owners daughter. I will treat you like any other employee." She explains as I take a seat.
"Of course, I wouldn't expect special treatment."
"For starters, I would expect you to wear something more... Professional." She says.
What's wrong with my outfit? I wore black jeans with a nice blouse. It was all I could put together in such short notice.
"I will definitely be sure to." I reassure her. I am starting to agree with what people say shes like. She seemed nice when we first met but now, she seems very bossy.
"I'd like for you to come here and organise these folders in alphabetical order into these bins." She said, placing three large piles of manila folders on the floor.
Ugh, she expects me to do this on the floor?? Who knows when they last vacuumed in here.
"Sure no problem."
"Get to it." She said before going back to what she was doing at her desk.
With a silent sigh, I placed myself on the floor and began sorting. Only to be frustrated that they weren't already in alphabetical order.
I had to make a bunch of other piles, each a different letter.
"Oh, and thats first letter by last name." she said, ten minutes into me sorting by first name.
Why would she tell me this now? Buttwipe.
It took me at least thirty more minutes to organise these all and place the container bins in the corner of the medium sized office room.
"I've finished, Althea." I announce. Only wishing that I was in Sebastians office. He would've been much nicer to me than this old greek lady.
"Great, that's all for today. I will let you know later on this week if you've got the job."
That's it? That's it? I organised her shit just for that to be it? What kind of trial is this??? Was she just that lazy that she just wanted someone to file her dirty paper work.
Ugh, I wish I could scoff right now.
But instead, "Thank you for your time." I say before leaving the room.
"Shut the door on your way out." I shut it only wishing that I would slam it shut.
Such a time waster!!
"Miss Rose, what are you doing back here?" Sebastian calls from the room next to Altheas.
I smile, his voice instantly soothing my mood. My prince charming.
"I had a trial for an assistant position for Althea." I tell him while he waves me inside.
"Oh, you poor lady." He said with a laugh.
"What did she make you do?"
"Organise." I roll my eyes. I am extremely annoyed. She could've at least made me do more, like fetch her a coffee or write things down for her.
"That's it?" He questioned and I nodded.
"Seems like a waste of time to me." He says. I couldn't agree more mr dreamy.
"I hope you don't get the job." He said,
"I mean, like I do but she doesn't deserve you." He whispered seconds later. My heart was pounding.
"It would be nice to have something else to do other than sit around on my butt all day." I told him, that would be until I got a job outside of the hotel.
I'm not too fond at the idea of working here. I already live here so it would be a lot like I eat, sleep and breathe the hotel. There would be no way of escaping.
"I can understand that, at least your room is a lot larger than most so you shouldn't feel too trapped." He sat back in his chair, clicking his pen.
"Do you live here?" I asked him, i've never not seen him here.
"No, although I feel like I should. I'm here all the time anyways." He says
"Do you like being here?"
He simply nods his head. "Yeah, I like the environment this hotel has. The people are great and so are the employees. A lot of them are foreign to Greece so you really get to meet a lot of cool people." He says.
"Plus the pay is nice." He adds.
I had noticed that a lot of people here that i've met have not been Greek. Besides, Althea and the chef Demeter, they're both born and raised here I learned.
"That's a plus then." I grin, it really does sound like an awesome place to work. He seems like a real people person.
"Anyways, mr Lake. I will let you go back to doing what you were doing." I say, not wanting to distract him anymore than I already had.
"Well, now that you know where my office is. Don't be a stranger." He says with a smile.
Ugh, that smile.
He stood up and walked me out of the room.
I will definitely be back in here soon.
