Chapter Seventeen : Grandma's Birthday

"Rose, my love! It's so good to see you, who is this handsome man?" Grandma Daphne says.

"Hi, Granny! This is Sebastian, my boyfriend." I introduced him to my grandmother. More than happy to say that he was my boyfriend, it still gives me butterflies.

"Pleasure to meet you, Daphne. Happy birthday." Sebastian smiled, holding his hand out only for her to pull him into a hug.

"Call me granny!" For an eighty year old, she was quite strong.

"Mum, you look amazing. Happy birthday!" My mum said, hugging her mother. My mum was the youngest out of seven others.

"Rosalie, go ahead and introduce Sebastian to everyone." Mother said.

I took Sebastian's hand and lead him around the smallish hall, greeting my family members and introducing the one I love to them.

Showing him off like he was some golden grammy I had win. I had definitely won something so golden.

"Glad to hear that you're taking care of my Rosie." My aunty, Jillian said. She was one of my mothers older sisters, she wasn't able to have any kids herself. I would definitely like to say that I'm her favourite niece.

When I was young, I spent all my time with her. She's definitely the fun aunt.

"Always." Seb smiled. He looked absolutely scrumptious tonight.

"What do you think?" I asked him, leading him outside to the garden that was set up with large, long tables.

"Everyones great, except that Evie. She won't stop eyeing me up." He laughed.

Cousin Evie was a year younger than me and as a child we were forced to do everything together. Although I don't like her all that much after she kissed my kindergarten boyfriend.

"Ignore her." I laughed.

"I haven't had the chance to tell you how amazing you look. Yellow is really your colour, my darling." He said, briefly kissing my lips.

My darling
I just might die!

"You look incredibly handsome." I said back, wrapping my arms around his neck.

The sun was going down and everyone was inside singing happy birthday to the lady who made everyone here a possibility.

"Happy birthday dear, granny! Happy birthday to you!" Within three big blows, she was able to blow out all of her candles. A wide, goofy smile on her face, this was the first time the whole family was able to be together at once.

"I just want to thank everyone for coming, it's not often that I get to have my family all together in one room. It truly is a blessing." Granny said, wiping a tear away with her long red acrylic nails.

Everyone sat at their tables, a lot of my aunty and uncles in tears. My family really is an emotional lot.

"God knows how much time i've got left and I fear that this would be the last time we all get together again. I have all my children in one place, my grand children, great grandchildren and our new family members." She said and I couldn't help but lean against Sebastian's side with a smile.

My grandma was happy.

"Although I wish my daughter, Caroline Rose and her family as well as Wren and his family would move back here. I miss having them here." Looking to my mother, she was in tears and I know this comment had hurt her the slightest bit. My father had a look of guilt as he held his wife.

"We miss you Mum." Uncle Wren added, raising his beer in the air. Everyone else followed, raising our glasses in the air.

"To mum!"
"To Granny"

"That's enough of that! Everyone on the dance floor, let's boogie!" Granny laughed, gesturing for everyone to stand up.

Of course we listened.

"M'lady." Seb said, bowing in front of me.

"Kind sir." I laughed, curtsying. He took my hand and we made our way with everyone else to the hall dance floor.

He placed one hand on my waist and the other holding my hand. My other hand resting on his shoulder.

He seemed happy although I could tell something else was bothering him but I didn't want to push him to talk.

"Everything okay?" He nodded his head.

"I love you." He said, his forehead pressing against mine.

Butterflies filled my stomach and my eyes welled up. Everytime he says it, it feels like the first.

"I love you more."

"I don't think that is possible."
