Chapter Eight : Dance the night away 🕺
"You'll be okay sweetheart, we won't be gone very long. Just for the weekend." My father said.
My parents and brother were off on a business trip. I wasn't sure why my mother and Hudson were going but wherever my father went, mother went to.
"I know, dad. You don't have to worry about me!" I told him, his stocky arms wrapping around my shoulders. "You've left me alone for more time than this."
"Yes, but Rose dear. We're in a new place, I don't want you going out on your own. You don't know the area and I don't want you to get lost."
"I know the area well enough!"
"I have asked some of the staff to keep an eye on you over the weekend. I will know if you leave." He said, as my mother walked in the room.
"My dear husband, leave her alone. We trust that Rosalie will take care of herself, she has made good friends with people in this hotel. Really good friends with some." She winked, wrapping her arms around my body in a tight hug.
My father was very protective of me and wanted me to go with them but I really can't see myself sitting around another hotel room all day.
"I will be calling every waking hour to check on you." He said as they picked up their bags.
"Make that every three!" I compromised.
"Every thirty minutes. Love you, Rose petal!" And before I could reply, the door was shut and I was left alone.
I hardly had the place to myself, someone was always home. I had no idea what to do with myself.
I had spent most of the day on the couch watching Gilmore Girls, stuffing my mouth with all kinds of snacks.
It was around five-thirty p.m when I heard a knock at my door.
"Great, my dad had sent someone to check up on me haven't they?" I whisper to myself before pulling myself off the couch.
"Rosie!" Demeter said, bursting through the door.
"What are you doing here?" I ask.
"I have been sent up here to get you ready!" She said, "which way is your bedroom."
Get ready for what? Why does she sound so excited? Demeter and I haven't been around each other that much but I still knew a few things about her.
She was in her late twenties, she's greek but hardly speaks it. She spent most of her life in Spain and only moved back to Greece to learn more about her culture.
I showed her to my room and she immediately went to my closet, pulling items of clothing out.
"We can't have you sitting around all day, tonight were going to let loose!" She squealed. "Here, put these on."
It made me laugh because she waltzed in here as if we had been best friends for years and we knew each other so well.
I took the clothing items and walked around to get dressed. It was a pair of black high waisted flare bottom pants and a black bralet.
My hair was already curled from this morning, all I had to do was a few quick touch ups.
"Wow, why don't you wear these more often?" Demeter asked, her mouth gaping wide open. I couldn't help but blush.
"Oh stop!" Within an hour or so we were down in the dining hall with the so called ball room.
"I thought y'all would never use this?" I said to Demeter.
