During one of the lab trips
~~~It was not a good day. While it wasn't as bad as the night that had changed the emerald boy's life, it was still pretty bad.
His father had come home again and what he held in store for him today wasn't pretty.
Apparently one of his patreons had requested that they speed up the process.
That meant cramming in experiments. Which meant pain.
He hadn't woken up when he was supposed to and had actually told his father to go away when he tried to get to get up and ready for the day.
Boy was he in for it.
Scrambling to get out the door, he apologized profusely to his father.
The man just gave him a strained smile as his fists clenched. It was because of him that his father was late for a meeting.
They got into the car and drove off.
On the way to the lab they pass a bunch of heroes waving to a crowd for some sort of event.
With a sinking heart he realized that that would never be him. He would never be able to inspire hope in the next generation. By choosing this life, he would forever be seen as a symbol that represented darkness and fear. While the main reason why he wanted to be a hero wasn't for the recognition, it still would be nice to have his efforts acknowledged.
This only reenforced the mantra that seemed to be constantly playing in his head.
You cannot become a hero.
He clenched his teeth.
You cannot become a hero.
"Izuku?"
He snapped out of his trance.
"Come on son. We're here." Said the man, opening the car door.
Like a dark shadow, hopelessness cast over the boy. He numbly got out of the car.
You cannot become a hero.
Today they had tried a new method. Normally they would just take a lot of his blood and would try to see if his blood could have quirk suppressing properties.
Today they tried something different.
Today they did experiment on his blood like they would usually do but they went about it in a different method.
Today they experimented on his blood while it was still IN him.
Warning! Possibly triggering subject ahead!
~~~It was utter agony.
Foreign drugs flooded his system, leaving him in a haze of pain.
They electrocuted him. Over and over and over again. It went on for what felt like days.
He wasn't quite sure when he passed out but at some point he did.

Trigger over!
~~~~~??? POV a few hours earlier.
Here he was, just minding his own business while plotting out some murders when he suddenly felt a dull stinging sensation in his arm.
"Shit" he murmured, abruptly standing up. He stumbled around, grabbing a coat as he made his way down the hall and to the door. He pulled on his shoes.
"Where are you going?" Asked a concerned voice.
"Out for a walk. I need to clear my head." Replied the red eyed individual.
"Alright. But please do come back soon. You know how-"
"Yeah. Yeah. I know." He interrupted.
He opened the door and left the dark building. He stumbled around until he was in front of an abandoned warehouse. He entered and locked the door.
Grabbing a piece of fabric, he stuffed it in his mouth. He fell to his knees as more stinging sensations wracked throughout his body.
Crawling over to a pair of chains hanging from the ceiling, he grabbed them, and held on for dear life as the pain became overwhelming.
He let out a muffled scream.
