Chapter 17: Finding Ulysses

Othemia was talking very slowly and choosing her words carefully, knowing that every word, every memory may open old wounds, since she was avoiding those memories all this time, then she started talking, after a deep breath:

· I can never forget that day, Ulysses was one of our brilliant scientists, if I wasn't afraid to admit, that he was the smartest one I've seen my whole life. As Evander told us about his tragedy, he was actually sad and dying from the inside but he didn't want anyone's pity. They say no great mind has ever existed without a touch of madness; Ulysses somehow created that weapon that almost killed us all, dark days... We survived terrible days. The greedy, mad government wanted to rule all the cities, so Ulysses stopped them all after he acquired the magical powers, although everything slipped away from his hands and his madness went so far; the anger pouched him to curse the whole land and separate the cities except my forest, which was protected with a magical mantra, anyways Ulysses wanted to make sure history will never repeat itself, the curse you all wanted to know was that no one could ever be able to give birth anymore, no one could ever remember what happened because it's part of the curse... Anna is the only one who can help you.

· Me!! But how can I help them ...Why me? Anna said while trying to process all that she just heard.

· ( Othemia touched Anna's hands gently ) Listen to me honey; you're much stronger than you think; besides you're the only one who can see the black mountain.

· See what?

· Ulysses has been hiding in a black mountain, I don't know what keeps him there, but you are the only one who can reach him. Othemia said.

· Since you know about it, means you can see it too, why don't you help them? Anna said

· Remember the magical mantra I talked about well it's not only protecting the forest, but it also forbids me from exiting it too, and so I'm trapped here, besides I'm not strong enough as you are.

· So what you saying is: I'm the only hope! Anna said.

· Exactly, but after all, it's your choice either you help our world or go back to yours.

· You can send me back to my world!!

· Come with me honey, I need to show you something.

Othemia went out to the front of her cottage with the guys and Anna. When Anna saw that Othemia's door is shining like the one she saw that night on that mountain, she asked:

· That door is the same one I saw when.... Anna said, couldn't believe her eyes.

· Yes my dear, but my plan didn't go as I wanted. That beast prevented you from coming straight here.

· Yes, that's what happened! Anna said, while her hand on her mouth -shocked- trying to process all that's happening at that moment.

· As you can see, this the only way to come back, and I can do that for you, but as I said earlier, we need you (Othemia told her the last words while touching her hands, trying to convince her ) We trust you and believe in you Anna, All we asking from you is to believe in yourself.

Anna couldn't see anything about Othemia; she was surprised and wondered if she lost her power, but the words of Othemia brought her peace and confidence and she decided to help them, she was their last and only hope.

· Now we know that the curse can lead to our world's extinction, so we need Anna's help to find the black mountain but for what??!! Evander said.
