Chapter 6: Ulysses

The magical book was about the story of a man called Ulysses, a chemist who was developing some chemical products, which could change the whole world, there was one thing about him that not everyone knew; he could not control his anger, and that made him do the biggest mistake in his life which because of it he could never forgive himself. There was that one time his daughter was disturbing him while he was working, playing around with her toys and her childish curiosity was trying to discover the materials her father was working on, Ulysses didn't like that, he liked tranquility and quietness around him in the time of work, he couldn't handle the noises she was making although he asked her several times to leave but children will always do what they want so in a moment of anger he didn't knew until he dropped a poisoning chemical product on her , and she died immediately , his wife could not stand the death of her only little girl, the next day he watched a body falling down through his window he found out that she killed herself, Ulysses was living in regret his whole life, he was the reason of the destruction of his own family but the death of his wife and daughter didn't stop him he kept on working believing that if he kept himself distracted he will forget but such thing can never be forgotten; his ambition derived him to create a chemical weapon that could destroy a whole city, his researchers and experiments were sponsored by the government so when they knew he created that weapon they wanted to rule all the cities and make them follow the same rules and footsteps, serious people ,angry all the time have no love or affection in their hearts, Ulysses didn't want to be the reason a whole city annihilation , but he had no power to stop them. He kept thinking and trying to figure out some solution before it was too late, then he remembered that he was working a long time ago on some products he believed that they had something with magic so he start working on it again, and he succeed this time but the consequences were so bad, for him, he turned out to have a marvelous power, but he was so late the city already began the war on the ''the City of happiness '' a lot of people died because it was a peaceful city they didn't even have an army or weapons there were no need to create weapons, since they lived in harmony with the other cities for centuries until the greedy and the cold hearted people of that city broke that alliance.

Ulysses couldn't handle watching people die, it remembered him of his daughter and wife, so he got so much angry, and then not a single soul could stop him since he had the magical power, he cursed them all and he stopped the war, the curse was..." Then the book ended that was all Evander got see of the book, once the story stopped, he took the book from the ground and started turning the pages but there was nothing, the following pages were lost, Evander was dying from curiosity, he wanted so badly to know what happened to Ulysses and what was that curse, he started looking around for some similar books but unfortunately it was the only one, he knew if he asked his parents, that will be a very big problem, but he needed to know, suddenly he heard someone's voice from the inside of the room saying:

· I can help you with that, young man!

Evander was totally terrified, no one should see him there but mostly he knew it was the angry man he heard earlier.

· It is ok boy, I don't bite. The creepy man said.

· Who-o-o-o... are you sir! Evander said

Then the men in the shadows come out, he was in the middle of age, looks wise with big scar on his face, the weird man said:

· My name is Dylan, and I'm the keeper of this room, I've been watching for a while that you were taking the books from here, didn't you!

· Right sir! I'll get them back right away, I'm so sorry I didn't meant to hurt anyone.

While Evander was just about to run away Dylan called him:

· Evander! Where are you going I think you still want some answers right?

Evander was confused, how this weird man could know his name he never talked to someone like him before, or anyone else.

· Sir how did you know my name? Are you some kind of wizard or what?

· I think the books you read affected your brain no wonder why they're forbidden, no my friend I'm not a wizard I'm just a normal man but I used to know one before, and by the way you talking with yourself so much that's how I know your name.

· Ah! I see so that's why you didn't give me away when the other guys were talking here

· That's not our subject right now; you want to know something or you just playing around here?

· Yes of course sir! I'm sorry.

· I saw you looking for something, can I help?

I found this book; it seems like an old one. (Then Evander showed him the book" Ulysses"). It's a story about a man called Ulysses.

When Dylan heard the name of Ulysses he got so stressed and become an angry creature again:

· Sir! What is happening? Are you Ok? Do you know anything about Ulysses?

· Stop saying his name! Dylan said with a massive voice like the beast inside him has been awakened.

· Ok! Ok! Just calm down I don't want anyone to find me here.

· How did you find this book I hide it, so little curious villains like you won't find it.

· Well it seems like you didn't hide it enough; Evander said with a smirk on his face.

· Yeah apparently.

· So Mister Dylan can you please tell me the story of the "person '' in this book.

· You see this scar on my face, he gave it to me, I'll never forget that day, and I'm still alive till today only because I was lucky enough to survive his anger.

· I don't know what you're talking about Sir; can you tell me the whole story?

Then they heard someone was opening the door, Evander tried to hide himself when his come in, he said:

· I heard something here, is there any problem.

· No sir minister you know me being here alone, I start losing my mind, and just to add some fun I'm talking with myself.

· Ah OK! But don't get so crazy we still need you here Dylan.

· Yes Sir Minister.

Evander heard his father talking and he was so afraid, if he saw him there it will be so bad for him. He come out with hurry and asked Dylan:

· Tell me what about the story quickly before someone else comes in.

· Not now and not here, this walls have ears, and no one should know about "that man", you shouldn't find that book but unfortunately you did. Meet me in that address.

He wrote him something on a paper and he vanished in the shadows. Evander took a look on the paper and when he was just about to ask the odd man he found that he disappeared, he came back home so confused and curious to know what really happened to Ulysses, so to stop his confusing, he took a book and start reading, because he knew that the best distraction was doing something else, and nothing will be awesome than reading a book, that was something he learned with the flow of the years especially when his parents were fighting, he tried his best to keep himself from problems he had no hand in them, and he couldn't do anything about them anyways so the only choice he had was to avoid them. He kept reading a heavy book which seemed to be a novel until he fell asleep, drowning in his dreams far away from reality and its complexion.
