Chapter 22: Hecate

When the serum that will allow them to breathe under water was prepared, Anna and her freinds were already back to the village after they succeeded to pass the guards again. Anna, Adam and Mauritius were the ones who took off to the river of memories; it wasn't that far so it took them only a few hours to reach it, once they were there Anna took her necklace from under her clothes and stepped into the water the same thing that she told Mauritius happened again he couldn't believe it until he saw it with his eyes the necklace started shining and suddenly a few mermaids started showing up, the same mermaid said:· I see that you come back how can I help you daughter of Elizabeth.· We are here to ask you for a favor, if we are in the position to do such thing. Anna said · Of course, what's your wish?· We heard a legend about this river; it contains all the memories of Hisia we want to know some information about a particular person.... Mauritius wanted to tell her name but he hesitated for a moment but then he said : Hecate Once the mermaids heard her name they all turned into savage and hideous creatures, a look that has nothing to do with their sweet previous appearance.· We don't talk about that women she caused terrible pain to all of us. Why would we help you to know something about that snake?· Well, either you help us or everyone in this land will suffer more than everyone did. Adam said The mermaid took a few seconds before she took her decision and then she said: · I will help you but only the one with the necklace could dive in. She looked at Anna since she's the owner of the precious item.· No there's no way I can let her go there alone. Adam said with anger.· That's my deal, take it or leave it. The mermaid said.· Hey Adam, it's ok I'll be back. Besides its better, if I was alone it won't take a lot of time. Anna said looking at Adam with that affectionate don't-be-concerned- look.· Alright! I'm ready. Anna said with a confident voice.Anna took the serum that will allow her to breathe under the water for longer period but before she jumped in the water the mermaid told her:· Anna you have to remember one thing, the deepest you go the more memories you going to see but if you staid too long you may lose yours.Anna heard her carefully and then she jumped, the guys staid on the land waiting for her, and desperate to know more about that Hecate. The pictures Anna saw definitely changed every single idea she had about that woman. Hecate was a child among seven sisters she never had the attention she deserved although she was a very creative girl with insightful eye, that lack of attention was a bit normal for a very big poor family. Her parents could barely feed them all despite the poverty in misery they were living at. They were the citizens of the village of anger which Hecate hated so much she wanted to escape that life so badly but she had no idea what's going on out there neither the money and power to do whatever she want. Hecate grow up in a misery and sadness which lead her to be as angry as the people of that village she hated everyone even her parents and sisters. Hecate like most of the people chose to see the world from the negative side her circumstances and her horrible situation changed that little ambitious girl to an evil creature and turned her heart ice cold like the first freezing days of a long winter until she met Ulysses who, somehow, found a way to her heart with his flirting words and dazzling eyes once she looked at him she completely lost herself in his eyes that took her to another galaxy. Everyone in the town knew how dazzling his eyes are but they were seeing her only or that's what she thought. Ulysses found a way to melt that icy heart and he made her fall in love with him but what Hecate didn't know was that Ulysses was already married at that time and like a fool she completely fall for him she didn't even know about his son who was in the way he betrayed her in the worst way ever while she gave him all she had, the thing that hurt her the most was that he left her once she knew about his wife, he just left without any explanation he walked away leaving Hecate confused angry and with deeply broken heart after he promised her of a wonderful wealthy life and a happy joyful family. What Ulysses didn't know was that the most dangerous person on earth is a woman with a broken heart which by coincidence has nothing else to lose. Accidently while she was cleaning the front door of their almost falling house she heard some ladies next door talking about the land of the lost where you learn how to control people like little dolls, apparently those ladies where desperate and almost crossing the age of marriage who needed a man so badly, Hecate heard also that in this land you can do whatever you want and learn from the most wicked and talented witches. The idea seduced her and she loved everything she heard about that land which becomes her dream destination, her evil side just woke up and what Ulysses shut down, just raised even bigger and more dangerous and stronger than ever. After a while from the break-up with Ulysses Hecate's parents died tragically in a mine where they were working for paltry price, the death of her parents and the betrayal of the man she was in love with made her think that she had nothing left in Hisia she asked her sisters to leave with her to the land of the lost they agreed on her suggestion since they were all in the same boat, the only thing that city gave them was misery poverty and depression, all the sisters accepted the idea of leaving to a new place and start all over except one of them (Amelia) who refused to leave she was too attached to the city but mostly she knew Hecate more than anyone, she knew that Hecate wants no good her intentions are evil and Amelia doesn't agree on harming or causing pain for no one so she stayed and continued to live in modesty she was satisfied of her situation in life unlike her sisters, she tried to look at life from the bright side and lived the day by day appreciating that she still alive and she got where to stay and food to fill her stomach until one day a good and wealthy man from the village of sadness fall in love with her simplicity and her breathtaking smile after a while her married her, from poverty and absolutely nothing she found herself in a huge mansion and living a wealthy life. She smiled at life and life smiled back at her, that girl was Deidria.Hecate escaped with her six sisters to the land of the lost to learn witchcraft and take revenge from the man who broke her heart. Her first days in that place were more horrible than the life she used to have in the village of anger, she found out that there's much evil and horrible people in that world more than she expected but she didn't let that stop her, she sworn to herself that she'll never stay in peace until she has her revenge. From the second she stepped into that land she absolutely forgot about her sisters, they trusted her but she has no more compassion or mercy in her heart. The poor girls had no idea what to do in that strange city some of them went to whore life to survive and others couldn't accept the idea of selling their body they chose to learn magic, they thought it may help them do something better which it didn't, they tried to be like their sister Hecate but they don't have the same ambition and what it takes to do such things, unlike Hecate who had the right motif to do anything for the sake of her evil goal. Hecate accepted to be the cleaning lady in the house of the richest, most talented and wicked witch in that land. The house was the headquarter of the best witches there, which was the perfect opportunity for Hecate, lucky for her not them. She seized that opportunity to learn everything she could from them, the days went by and the women who owns the house "Morana" Goddess of death noticed that Hecate was interested in magic, she had no idea what was going on in that evil creature's mind, so Morana offered Hecate to be her teacher and help her to learn witchcraft and everything that has to do with that, Hecate didn't believe that finally what she wanted is going to happen or at least the first step in achieving what she wants. Days, weeks and months have passed and Hecate was still learning, she went through a lot of hard days learning all the spells and magic she could possibly learn, Morana treated her like her child, but she was definitely not the mother of the year she was so strict with her because she knew that is the only way Hecate will be great, although she loved her so much she even allowed her to live in her house. After all the experiences and she challenges she had to go through to become who she wants, she took so many lives, each time she killed someone she also kills something deep inside her, each time she loses a part of her soul until she literally become the most dangerous witch ever, even stronger than Morana, the one who loved her and teached her, because when you think you have nothing to lose you get stronger, and Hecate had nothing to lose at all, she even lost her soul. Obviously she wasn't that dump she didn't stick to one teacher she seduced the other witches and made them teach her, using what Morana gave her, of course Morana had no idea what was going on behind her back. So after that Hecate learned what the others had to offer, she killed them all, and by that she gained their power, she didn't know about that at first but once she killed the first one she felt something exciting going in her veins, some weird energy and then it hits her she knew that the power of that witch transferred to her, then the killing sequels started, she killed them all without mercy or compassion, that was the only forbidden thing among witches – not to kill each other unless the other one was trying to defend their life- but Hecate didn't care about the rules or anything anymore, the power blinded her sight and all she wanted was to be more powerful than ever. Combining the power of her previous murders she even rebelled on her own mentor, when this one found out what Hecate did she was so disappointed. So instead of explaining everything and apologizing to the women who basically was taking care of her, she killed her without hesitation, Hecate killed the Goddess of death herself, and then she finally got to her goal, becoming the most terrifying person ever, with that power she could rule the city of the lost and that's what she did then she started planning for executing her revenge that she waited so much for, at first she wanted to kill him but after a second thought she wanted him to suffer like she did, she wanted to break his heart in a way he can never put it together. Hecate had a lot of ideas that she almost lost in them, killing his wife or maybe destructing his precious career but it wasn't enough for her, she spent days and weeks thinking and shaping her plan to destruct Ulysses, until she come out with the perfect plan to entirely ruin his life. Meanwhile she was working on her empire and making herself even stronger, one day it come to her ears that Ulysses had a daughter from the women he chose over her and then Hecate knew it was the perfect timing to execute her plan, although she didn't knew that his sister Othemia was a witch too but a good one since she escaped that land a long time ago to stay with her brother who was her only family left, but that's not her story; At first Hecate transformed to another girl so Ulysses won't get to know her and since she was stronger than Othemia neither her knew that snake was Hecate. However Hecate took another shape to work as Ulysses's assistant or more like a help, he already had another assistant and the greatest person by his side who's also happens to be his best friend Dylan. Hecate took advantage of the time she spent with Ulysses and observed the pattern of his life, she hated being his help but she was willing to do whatever it takes to make her plan work. While she was spying on his life deep down at some dark place in her heart she knew that it was tearing apart once she spot him with his wife and their three years old daughter, she almost started smiling after seeing that joyful moment, although their happiness was the source of her pain but she shut down those feelings by suppressing that smile and putting her serious, sulky face and obviously didn't let that deceive her, she could never forget the pain he caused her, she hated how happy he was and wanted to take that away from him. So Hecate cursed Ulysses with the worst thing ever uncontrollable anger, she enjoyed watching him destructing himself and his marriage of course he loved his wife but in every relationship there must but some disagreement only the love of each other can overcome any argument and every fight but only if they both love each other; back then they could easily figure out a solution for their problems and get back to each other but after Hecate's curse he lost control on his nerves, there was even one time when he almost got so violent and hit the women he loved the most, he apologized after that but a ''sorry'' couldn't heal her wound. The only mistake Hecate made was that she didn't really paid attention to Ulysses's work, her little victory blinded her and she forgot that he discovered a magical item thanks to his sister who brought it with her from the land of the lost that's why Othemia could never go back to the land of the lost. That item belonged to Morana, her precious source of ultimatum power, so Othemia stole it with good intentions, she was afraid that Morana could use one day to terror people, little did she know that her crazy curious brother would find it so once saw it he wanted to discover the secrets of the thing in front of his eyes. Ulysses was working on that item but the demands of the government were taking too much of his time so that didn't got the attention of Hecate, the stupid girl she underestimated his knowledge and she was too sure that her curse will lead him to destruct his own career and marriage, basically his whole life so she quietly went out of his life like nothing happened she stepped back and watched him doing exactly as she planned; Until that miserable day when he accidently got so angry at his son, while she was playing around him, unfortunately he couldn't control himself so he killed her, that day he didn't only lost his daughter, his wife committed suicide, since she couldn't handle the death of her only child , so he also lost the love of his life, Hecate knew that she finally won after seeing the look of defeat and regret on his face, holding his daughter between his hands and crying like a baby who just saw a horror movie, her happiness increased once she knew that his wife died too, too birds with one stone she didn't even plan for that so she left him there drowning in his grieve, blaming himself for destructing his own life and she assumed he will probably join his family and end his life but he didn't, you see Hecate missed a lot of stuff she didn't quite knew Ulysses, work was his way of escaping hard times and that's what he did. He wanted so badly to get back his family and take back what he did, so he started working for days without a second of rest, to build a time machine to bring back his family, but all the attempts lead him to a dead end. The tragedy he went through and the lack of sleep changed the path of his work and he did a terrible mistake in the main equation he instead built a weapon that could been the end of everything, but it needed an engine which he couldn4t get from anywhere until he remembered that magical item he found in his sister's room, he thought it may be a game changer although it all went the opposite of what he was expecting. Ulysses was just thinking of all the happy times he spent with his family and all the things he couldn't do back then when they were with them, he wanted them so badly at all costs; When he brought the item to install it, he accidently touched it. It stunned him for a second but he didin4t care, afterward he felt something unusual in his body like if his cells are killing each other, he felt like his whole body was burning from the inside out, he thought that will be his end but what he didn't know was that the magical item was the reason; After hours of suffering and the horrible pain he had to go through he fainted away...
