The Missing piece

Chapter 10: City of sorrows

The friends were heading to that forest as Leander told them. The map was showing the city of happiness, the hole of death, some kind of forest they assumed it was the one Leander mentioned, and some places looked like a village or a city they couldn't tell because a day ago they didn't even know places existed outside of the wall. They couldn't figure out which way to go but with that map in their hand, they saw some directions or road to follow, they assumed that the women's house should be in the woods according to Leander, and that was their destination. They decided to continue on that road, they kept walking trying to resist the hunger thirst and exhaustion that affected them after the weird thing that happened to them in that oasis. It was a long deadly way which seemed like it didn't even have an ending. Anna felt like she was losing her energy or like she was going to die there, she felt down, and she lost her conscious ,Adam and Shadow didn't know what to do , they were tired also , but fortunately they saw a light far away , Adam said :

· Let's go there maybe that's the village we saw on the map, we can find someone who can help us.

· Didn't you forget what just happened to us, what if that women was there too? How could we get away this time?

· I think we discussed this before, we agreed to go to the nearest village. Here it is. Let's go. Adam said

· I don't know Adam... I'm not sure it's the right thing to do. Shadow said with hesitation.

· The right thing? Are you kidding me? Look at her what about Anna! We need to find someone who can help her; apparently we can't do a thing from where we standing, if we don't take her there probably we will lose her. Adam shouts at him, with concern and fear in his eyes.

The idea of losing Anna scared Shadow to the bones, so he agreed to go to that village for the sake of Anna's health. Adam continued:

· I think we should go there and try to find someone who can help her then we will figure out somehow to escape if something went wrong.

· Well I guess that's the only option we have. Shadow said

· Yeah right! Then let's go before we end up all dead.

Anna's body was like a light feather in Adam's strong arms, he snatched a few looks at her beautiful face while they were walking towards that village.

They start walking again, and much faster this time so they could reach that place before it was too late. As they got closer, they saw a gate; a town took place beyond it. The gate was so huge with some mind blowing fussiness, and fascinating illustration, Shadow pushed the gate ad it opened with massive annoying voice, the village seemed deserted just a few people here and there. Finally they were there, a town that Adam never knew it existed, they entered to that strange place and started looking for someone to help them, and all of a sudden a girl approached them and asked them:

· What brings you her friends?

· Our Friend lost her conscious and we're looking for someone to help us. Can you madam? Shadow said.

· I'll show you the way to the « Nosokomia »

· Excuse me! What is that?

· Just follow me if you want to help your friend.

Adam looked at shadow, with suspicious look; can they trust this girl who came from nowhere? No one knows, but they had to trust her otherwise they have no other choice if they wanted to save Anna, so they followed her to that strange place. The city was so quiet and a bit sad like if war just ended there and it was a greave day. On their way they saw houses built from bones and skeletons, some others were from wood, Adam had no idea what was going on in that city and his fear was growing as further they were walking behind that strange girl, finally they made it to a big building, he asked her

· Madam what is this place?

· Go in there, and tell them that Ophelia sent you, Ok!!

· So your name is Ophelia.

· Yes sir

· Thank you Ophelia for your help I really appreciate it! Adam said.

· It's my job sir, nothing special. Now go in there and save your girl before it's too late.

So Adam got in the « Nosokomia » , holding back all his inner thoughts ,he found out that it was a hospital ,where a lot of people and doctors were there, everyone was working ,he asked for help ,and they did what it had to be done immediately ,after few hours Anna woke up feeling so tired with pain all over her body, and she found Shadow by her side and Adam on the other side they were waiting for her to get back her conscious ,but they were so tired from the long walk, so they slept there ,Anna got up so slowly to not wake them up but Adam felt her presence and opened his eyes immediately, She asked him :

· Adam, tell me what happened to me!

· You lost conscious while we were walking and Shadow and I brought you here, a girl named Ophelia showed us this place, and those kind people helped you.

· Oh God! I'm really sorry I didn't mean to put you guys through all this , I'm really sorry !

· It's Ok Anna, now we're here we can have some rest change our clothes maybe get some good information and continue on our way.

· Yeah you're right! You guys have some rest and I'll go change my clothes when shadow gets up tell him to get ready too.

· Yes Madam.

They start laughing both, because apparently her voice was a little bit bossy, she went looking for somewhere to change her clothes, while Adam was waking up shadow, they changed and they got out of the hospital. Looking around in the city, discovering what they had no idea it existed, the city seemed like it was wearing a black coat, the sun never shed its rays not for a second since they step into that city, and everyone was sad and looking depressed, it appeared to Adam like a nightmare since all he knew was happiness and smiley faces. While they were looking around they noticed a library in the other side of the street so they got in thinking that they may find something there, since the map wasn't that helpful they needed more information if they wanted to succeed in that mission. The library wasn't that big just a tiny space filled of old books in that messy place, books were scattered everywhere, like there was no one to take care of them.

Shadow jumped in his place once he heard a woman behind him talked:

· What are you looking for curious little beings?

· Hi Madam, we come here hoping to find some information about the land out there, can we find a map here? Anna asked.

· Well as you can see, it's hard to find something in this place and I don't think I remember where the map is, give me few days to look for it.

· Few days and what we supposed to do till then? Shadow said

· That's not my problem kid; you want the map or no?

· Of course we want it but Madam, but madam we are new in this town...

Anna touched her hand while she was talking; she saw that the creepy women was lying about the map she knew exactly where it was but there was something holding her back so she asked for some days to think about her decision.

· You know what; we'll give you all the time you need! Anna said.

· Good decision young lady.

· Anna what's wrong with you we need that map, Adam said with a very frustrated tone.

She answered him, she just put her hand on his to reassure him, Adam immediately understood that she saw something but couldn't tell him in front of that women.

· Yes madam, we'll come back in six days, I think that's enough for you to find the map in this whole mess!! Anna said.
