Chapter 2: The City of Happiness

Once she opened her eyes, she found a whole new world, peculiar like the fantasy she read about or watched in movies. Anna fainted away again because of the unbelievable shock she was in; she couldn't understand what just happened to her. When she woke up again, Anna started walking in that new land, trying to discover and observe everything with wide surprised eyes, fascinated by the people and their weird clothes, well for them she was the weird one there, and somehow she completely forgot the accident that almost killed her earlier. Then in that whole "weird" situation, she pumped into a guy, they were both surprised when they looked at each other obviously because she was looking strange, and hard to not be noticed with her jeans on and a black shirt with a picture of a skeleton on it, the boots were definitely interesting.

· Hey! How can I help you, Miss? He asked her!

· I'm sorry sir! Can you please tell me what this place is?

· You look strange from our City, well let me say: Welcome to the city of happiness! Where everyone is happy and positive and you'll see the smiley faces all around, and the parties and celebrations every day. That strange guy said with a happy and excited voice.

· That's actually the weirdest thing I've ever heard! I feel like I'm in a dream or something, Are you serious? Anna was laughing at what she just heard.

· Yes! Of course, by the way, I'm Adam, the best baker you can ever find in this city. What about you Miss who are you?

· I'm still trying to figure out that part. She said while looking around.

· At least you can tell me your name.

· Oh! Yeah sure, silly me! I am Anna.

· Nice meeting you Anna! Next time be careful in your way to not pump into someone else, not everyone in this city will act nicely.

· Well, they seem nice to me!

· You should not be fooled by appearances; the people of this city hide a lot of secrets!

· I don't understand what you are talking about my friend but thank you for your advice, I'll definitely keep it in mind.

Anna was turning back to her way, to complete her discovery journey. Then she realized that she was lost and there was no one to help her so she went back to Adam's little bakery and asked him to show her the city, of course, he couldn't turn off her request.

Adam was a strong guy, kind, good looking but he preferred to keep that mysterious aura, he wasn't much of a talker, because of a horrible love experience, he decided to shut down his heart and keeping a small circle of people, as he believed that sharing too much can get you attached, and he was not capable of handling another heartbreak especially after the massive break down he went through last time. So since Adams's work was not that good he couldn't refuse her demand, or resist her charm, after restraining his feelings for so long, one look from that girl broke the walls he spent years building to protect him from being attached again, so he thought a quick walk cannot damage his business, or his heart.

Adam start showing Anna the city, in the corner she saw people buying some clothes from a fat man who was wearing something like a dress but apparently it was for man, moreover he was wearing a lot of jewelry and necklaces as an evidence of being rich, and a lot more people were looking like him. concerning women they were putting some long and shiny dresses, it takes a bit of time to get used on the diversity of all those colors, their hairstyle was kind of familiar for her, she was sure that she saw a picture of a woman with the same hairstyle in her mom's old books when she was sneaking to the library and watch her albums in those days of glory, that implanted some doubts in her mind but the beauty of the city and the fascination she was drowning in was enough to distract her. On the other side a couple of shops where girls and boys were buying some candies and popcorns ,the houses were in the shape form all kinds of candies and everyone was wearing shiny and colorful clothes, and as Adam said everyone was laughing and smiling it was like impossible to find someone sad or unhappy in that city. They were walking around in the streets, while Adam was telling Anna about everything she was seeing, the people he was meeting and shops of clothes, food, he even invited her to eat some of the food they were specialized in , and it was really amazing, Adam could tell from the "surprised" expressions on her face, she definitely loved the food, but what got Anna's attention was the money they were exchanging, it was from Gold and there was a face of an old angry man on it , at that point Anna was sure that she was not dreaming and she was no longer in her normal city that she always wanted to get out of, like God finally listened to her prayers and she has a whole world to discover where no one knows her or will judge her. the other thing that got her attention and she neglect at first but the more she walk in the city the more her doubts grow, the thing was that there were no kids, she thought that they were at school or something but she has no idea about the reality. Suddenly, it was like a lamp lighting up in her mind, she said "where is Shadow". From the moment she jumped into this world he disappeared. Anna and Adam started looking for him...

Anna started looking with a massive fear in her eyes for shadow, all around the city she overlooked anything that was in her way, with Adam by her side, because he was the only who knows the city better than her and can actually help her, after hours of looking around, she started losing hope, like she always did when she was facing a problem, so she just stopped and sat down like a someone who just got defeated, surrendering to life, she was crying so badly, crying because her dog was the only one she got left in that life if she lost him she would be completely alone, all the attempts were useless, Anna and Adam couldn't find Shadow, and suddenly a guy comes close to her and called her by her name so gently:

· Anna!

She turned back, completely choked, not because of the weird clothes that guy was wearing, or that nice and sweet way he was looking at her, mostly because she knows nobody knows her name in this strange place except her beloved being Shadow, that guy said:

· I'm Shadow, I hope you didn't forget about me already.

· Oh My boy! How can I forget you, you're the one and only person i can never gave up on. God! I was so worried to lose you too.

And she hugged him a long, affectionate hug. There's nothing can cure your heart than a warm, meaningful hug from the person you love the most. Shadow said:

· Well it's not that easy to get rid of me Anna, I'll be always there by your side, until death tears us apart. He hugged her even tightly.

What was the big surprise for Anna were the changes that happened to Shadow. He noticed her about-the-ask facial expressions and he stopped all the fighting ideas in her brain.

· I think there's a magical thing about this world cause the moment I jumped with you into it I found myself, human and naked. I just took some clothes from the ones on the streets.

· Shadow! You stole them from people. Anna said with an abnomition tone.

· Oh really! I think they won't notice it.

They all start laughing after hours of crying and looking around. At this funny and happy moment, Adam started noticing Anna's beautiful and joyful smile. Well, he was absolutely falling for her. Adam suggested on Anna and Shadow to stay with him at his house because obviously they have nowhere else to go. They didn't refuse his offer, since they didn't have any other choice.

All friends went to Adam's little house. It was not that big but it was enough for them, his house was in the form of a marshmallow white and odd, there were four rooms in it, a bedroom-very basic- just a bed and a wardrobe of clothes, all the things of the house were also in the form of marshmallow and there was the kitchen, a living room and bathroom. Anna was wondering "why they have a kitchen while the whole house is food" then Adam said like he knew what was going in her mind:

· I know what you all are thinking about, the house is not for eating you can't eat your own house obviously so that's why we have a kitchen to cook our own food as you can see.

· Yeah right! The house is to live in not to eat (she felt awkward and silly). I'm sorry; I'm just trying to process this whole thing that's happening to me.

· It's alright Miss, no need to apologize. Adam said.

There was the small dining room, were a sofa and a small table took place in. Adam left his room for Anna and he slept with Shadow in the living room. The coach was barely enough for them both but they could manage somehow to spend the night there.

In that night, Anna could sleep in peace for the first time in her life, she felt something strange but beautiful at the same time although she couldn't explain any of those feelings the only thing she was certain about was that the fleeing of belonging doesn't lie she felt like she really belongs to that world, it was exactly where she wants to be, the big changes she needed in her life finally happened. Except that she had no idea that she was the one who was going to bring big changes to this place.
