The Missing piece

Chapter 15: The unexpected companion

They dried their clothes, while they sat catching their breath, and process everything that happened to them. After few hours, they put their clothes on and decided to continue walking, heading to the unknown they spent 3 days on the road with no stop, on the 4th day they reached a huge lake which was their reason to stop, they saw it would be better to spend the night there until the morning till they figure out how to cross the lake, the next day they woke up in jail, confused, afraid, and angry, they had no idea what happened over the night.

· Get us out of here we did nothing. Anna was screaming

· Yes, we are no criminals, please let us go. Shadow was terrified

· Just chill guys, we will get out tomorrow, a friend told me that he's going to kill that stingy rat and we'll be all free.

· Who you talking about sir? Adam asked from behind the bars trying to figure out who was talking.

· The king of course, that horrible bustard.

· How you so sure? Adam asked, still had no idea who was talking.

Then a man across the hallway approached the bars of his cells and said:

· Two men, escaped yesterday; they were next me here, and he was pointed at the sell next to his, they were talking about their plan all night, I could barely sleep, the pigs...

· AWESOME! Means we spending the night here, well at least we have somewhere to stay .Adam said in a sarcastic way.

The next day, the exact same thing the strange man said happened, they found the cells wide open in the morning, they went out, and they were so surprised from the people's reaction, their king was dead but they were all happy about it.

they didn't have the mood to discover that city , they start walking , trying to pass through the crowd of joyful people and suddenly Anna was missing , Adam and shadow start looking for her so afraid of losing her in this creepy city , Anna was looking for them too and suddenly she felt down , and the people were walking on her whole body, not even caring about her , after a few minutes she saw between the people's legs someone coming towards her , with big steps and huge body , he gave her his hand, she hold it to get up and then she saw him, and at the same time everything about him, all the stuff he went through and she knew that he was looking for the same thing, the truth. At that moment she couldn't handle it, and she lost conscious between his hands. Few hours passed by and Anna woke up seeing many faces around her, the first one she saw was Shadow, he hugged her tightly, happy to get her back, Adam was happy to see her too. The guy who brought her there was sitting away from them, just waiting.

She got up on her legs slowly, still feeling the steps of the people on her back; she walked towards him and said:

· Thank you for saving me, without your help I would be dead by now... I own you my life.

· That was nothing madam, I just needed to know you doing well, now that you fine, I have to go; and without any other word he stood up and kept walking away.

· Wait for a second I have to talk with you. (Anna)

He didn't know what a strange lady wanted from him but he stopped walking anyway.

· Yes madam, how can I help you?

· Why you're looking for the old women's house.

He was shocked; one question was in his head: how in the world she could know about his quest? But he remembered Dylan's words, to not trust anyone, so he said:

· I don't know what you're talking about madam.

· Well I saw everything, there's no need to deny, we looking for the same thing. Anna said.

· Prove it. He said, challenging her.

· You're from another city "the city of anger", your parents don't like....you; you know something about this man called Ul....

· Yes, yes, yes, that's enough. I believe you now.

· But I still don't know your name sir.

· I'm Evander Madam, and what you just told me is a bit creepy.

· Well, our friend here has some magical skills, once she touches someone's hands she sees everything he has been through .Shadow said, feeling oddly excited about Evander.

· Chill my friend; you didn't have to tell him everything. Adam was a bit frustrated about Shadow.

· Now I see, but it still weird for me. Evander said.

· It was for all of us, don't worry you'll get used to it .Shadow said

· Sir you still didn't answer my question. Anna said.

· Which is? Evander said while looking straight at her eyes.

· Why you're looking for the old women's house too?

He kept silence for a while then he, for some reason, felt comfortable around them, he took a deep breath and then he said:

· I found a book back home talking about a man "Ulysses" but it's not completed, the last thing mentioned was a curse and I wanted to find out what it is so they told me that there's that old women who can help, tomorrow I'm going there .What about you guys ,why you're looking for her ?

· Well we found that no one remembers what happened 10 years ago, and we are desperate to get some answers, so Adam can know what happened to his parents. Anna answered, while maintaining the eye contact.

· It seems that we're in the same quest .Evander said

· We are, and you are more than welcome to join us. Anna said.

· Yes of course, I would like to have some company .But I still need to talk with the king to let us go out the city.

· And when is that? Adam asked.

· Tomorrow, after the coronation ceremony. Evander answered.

· Then we'll join you in that too. Adam said with suspicion, he seems a bit jealous.

· That sounds great .Evander said with excitement.

· But we still need a place to stay for the night. Anna said.

· You're right; we'll figure that out somehow. Adam answered.

· (Then kaylan approached them) where have you been my friend, I've been looking for you everywhere ... Oh hey there (he said talking to Anna and her friends) won't you introduce me to your new friends? Keelan said, talking to Evander

· Yes sure, this is Adam, Shadow and Anna (he said the last name with a big smile on his face). We just met.

· Nice to meet you friends. I heard that you guys need a place to stay, right?

· Yes sir, we just come here today and we going to leave with Evander tomorrow. Anna said looking at Evander while she was trying to hide her obvious joy.

· Well, you're more than welcome in my house. Kaylan said.

· That's so kind sir, we would like that so much. Shadow said.

The friends went to Kaylan's house, they could get only a few hours of sleep, the celebrations and noise in the streets didn't stop for a minute. The next morning they woke up a bit tired but happy for what to come. The big day has arrived, they woke up ready, excited to talk with the king and that was exactly what they did after the delicious breakfast they had. They went out heading to the palace to ask the king for the permission to go out, and he didn't refuse the request, they went out so happy, finally they could leave.

They put together all they need for the next trip. Evander was never good with goodbyes so he just went away without saying a word to kaylan, they all started walking, looking for "The forest of mystery".
