*day of fall festival*
"Hey bud, care to tell me why Xioajun fell out of your bed a couple days ago?" Lucas asked when his roommate came back from his classes.
The boy froze, eyes widening in shock, "Uh...what do you mean?"
Lucas scoffed, "I think you know exactly what I mean."
"I—I..." Hendery couldn't finish his sentence as his eyes filled with tears, "I don't know Lucas! I'm sorry!"
"Hey...bub, Cmon let's sit down and talk," The elder said gently before he led Hendery over to sit on his bed. "Can I just ask when you and Xiaojun started talking again?"
Wiping his eyes with the backs of his hands, Hendery started sniffling quietly. "I—I just asked him if we could talk a few weeks ago and th—things actually went well. He asked if we could hang out again y—y'know try to get things a little normal. Of course I said yes we w—were just talking and one thing led to another...I—I don't know how it happened."
Lucas put an arm around the smaller boys shoulders, and gave him a few moments to just let everything out. "Why didn't you tell me you guys were talking again?"
"I was scared...that it wasn't going to last. I didn't want to get my hopes up."
A small frown formed on Lucas's lips, "But that was a big step Hendery, you could've been excited about it."
"D—Do you think Xiaojun only talked to me because he wanted sex?"
"Oh goodness..." Lucas whispered as he tried to figure out a way to comfort the boy. "Jungwoo has his performance in about—shit twenty minutes! You wanna go to the fall festival? Cmon we're going!" The elder yelled as he scurried off to the bathroom to make himself presentable.
After about a minute, Lucas ran out of the bathroom and basically picked up his still sulking friend, "Well what're you waiting for!?"
Even though Hendery felt unimaginably depressed, he hoped that this fall festival thing could cheer him up. Maybe they would have food so he could eat his feelings.
✨✨✨
Getting there with roughly five minutes to spare, Lucas snuck behind the makeshift stage set up in the middle of campus. Since the weather wasn't unbearable, they held the festival outside this year.
His eyes landed on Jungwoo and he swore all of the breath was ripped from his lungs. The last time he talked to his boyfriend, he was getting ready for his cute lyrical dance, the outfit just didn't make sense—not that he didn't like it because he really did. He couldn't take his eyes off of the shorts squeezing the boys thighs, or the thing wrapped around his idea—which he had no idea what it was—he just knew he liked it. A lot.
When Jungwoo saw the younger boy he looked like he was about ready to throw up. "I'm kinda freaking out!" He yelled over the band that was playing on the stage right now. He clenched his fists tightly, trying his hardest not to cry as his makeup had already been perfected.
Wrapping an arm around the boy, Lucas pulled him closer, to the point where their bodies were touching so he could hear him. "Why're you freaking out!"
"Taemin changed my dance last minute—he said the song didn't fit the theme well enough. He brought me this outfit and told me to dance to something I performed months ago," Jungwoo explained, his lips almost pressed against Lucas's ear so he didn't have to yell. "I feel like I'm going to break the damn things on my thighs—how do I dance in this!?"
Glancing down at what the boy was talking about, Lucas quickly averted his eyes and willed away the thoughts forming in his head. "You know the choreography to all of your dances forward and backwards, you got this baby."
"Jungwoo, Yeji's going on, you gotta get to the stage," One of the volunteers said as they put an arm around him and started walking away.
Lucas turned around to go find his seat and was faced with a very sad looking Hendery sitting against the stage. He pulled out his wallet and handed the boy a ten dollar bill, "Just go buy yourself some snacks."
✨✨✨
After watching all three dancers, the crowd was speechless by the talent Taemin kept hidden within his classroom. Even Hendery was utterly immersed in watching every second of the performances.
By the time Jungwoo walked out from behind the stage, another band had already begun playing. He had one of Lucas's sweatshirts covering the tight black top, and took off the thigh garters.
"You were amazing!" Hendery screamed as he ran past Lucas to hug the boy.
Lucas's pushed the younger boy away, and pulled his boyfriend into his own arms, "You did absolutely spectacular!" He turned to glare at his roommate as he said the last two words.
"Thank you," Jungwoo mumbled. He was about ready to fall asleep in his boyfriends arms. Taemin had been working them nonstop since seven in the morning, and his body was just over it.
"Jungwoo," Taeyong called out, trying to get the boys attention. When younger looked at him, Taeyong brought a hand up to cradle the side of the boys face. Having a makeup wipe in the other hand, the elder carefully wiped off the makeup on his friends face.
Jungwoo smiled at the boy before laying his head back down on Lucas's chest, "Thanks Yongie."
Letting out a small giggle, Taeyong nodded, "I'll see you in class on Monday."
Just as Lucas was going to say something else, there was another voice from behind him. Hearing it too, Jungwoo perked up at the sound, he looked around for a bit before gasping, "Mom...Dad?"
He wiggled out of his boyfriends arms and hurried over to his parents, "How...I thought you were on a business trip!?"
"That may have been a lie..." His mother admitted as she pulled her son into a warm embrace. "I'm so proud of you honey."
When the two pulled apart, Jungwoo's dad was looking at him with a sly smile, "Who's the boy?"
Jungwoo turned around to see Lucas and Hendery arguing about something again. "Well...the big ones my boyfriend, Hendery's just his roommate. Anyway I was waiting for the right time to tell you guys about him, but I guess now is a good time."
"Oh my goodness!" His mother gasped, "that's the boy you showed us! How long have you been together?"
A small smile formed on Jungwoo's face, "Almost three months." He turned around and faced the two, "Lucas, come over here!"
Looking up, Lucas looked mortified when he saw—what he assumed to be—his boyfriends parents. He gulped before taking shaky steps towards them. "Hello Mr. And Mrs. Kim, I'm Lucas," He said politely before bowing.
"And I'm Hendery!"
