"I still don't know why I have to drive you when your staff is going to the same place." I mutter. My hands rest idle on the steering wheel as we come to a red light. For a Sunday evening, traffic's not too bad and the weather is nice. Nice enough to spend within the comforts of my bedroom, but I was unfortunately dragged out against my will to be my brother's chauffeur.
"I'm going to this wedding as a friend, not a caterer. I just want to finish this up before we get there so I won't be thinking about work while we're there." My brother replies without looking at me, and I see the resemblance between him and me. Procrastination? Not on our watch.
Taeil is sitting in the passenger seat of his own car with his laptop propped up on his lap. He's working on monthly reports and skimming through meeting minutes from what I can see. He already has enough responsibilities as the head chef and the owner, but until I graduate, he's also in charge of managing the business. Everyone thought that with my good grades in school, I would wind up to be a prosecutor or a doctor. Instead, on the day of Sun & Moon's opening, I grew the ambition to work with my brother. I chose to pursue business administration and Taeil hasn't employed anyone else as the manager, since he wants me to be the first to fill that position.
"And you're sure that it's okay to bring a plus one?" I ask for the millionth time, entering the luxurious hotel's parking lot. I whistle at the number of imported and expensive cars parked. Taeil's friend must be loaded as hell.
Taeil briefly nods. "The groom himself told me to bring you—of course it's okay."
"The groom? How would I know the groom?" I scoff, choosing a parking space next to a very familiar black SUV. I wonder where I've seen this car before—
"Well, Taeyong told me that he was introduced to you," Taeil puts his laptop away. "That time that you ate together with Donghyuck at the cafè, we were literally discussing Taeyong's wedding right in front of you."
I pause, trying to recall the night at the cafè. I eventually remember that I did hear the mention of a wedding, but I had zoned out for the rest of their discussion. Ah, this is the wedding I chose his tie for. My head snaps to the side; how did it take me so long to recognize the car I've been riding almost everyday this past month?
All this new information to process, yet my biggest takeaway is Donghyuck's here at this wedding. My blood rushes at the thought of meeting him unplanned.
"Why didn't you tell me this was Taeyong's wedding?" I yell at my brother, urgently pulling out a mirror from my bag to check my hair and makeup. Dammit, if I knew, I would've chosen a cuter outfit.
"I thought you knew! What are you getting mad at me for?" Taeil whines.
"I look fine, right?" I ask him seriously, like it's a life or death question.
